Which lumea model?

Decided to take the plunge and treat myself to a lumea as with small dc i never get time to go for a salon wax anymore. Mid brown hair and pale skin so hopeful it'll be affective. But looked online and there's loads of models ranging from 199 to 575£!

Any recommendations? Does price reflect effectiveness??

I would also be interested to know how long a maintenance session on lower legs takes and how often do people do it. I'm a bit time poor (hence not waxing often anymore) so cant see me doing it for hours each week...

I want to know this too! I want it primarily for my moustache (babe emoji) but wouldn't hurt if I could use it on my bikini line too. (Just for stragglers, not full bush removal) (Second babe emoji).

Last I looked the second most expensive had loads off at Boots (and you'll get points) compared to Amazon and I'm after that. £300 down from £500 I think.

I don't know which one I have, but it was about £300 2 years ago.

It's bloody brilliant. I am pale with dark hair. I now have barely any hair on my lower legs (never had any dark hair on the tops) or armpits.

I bought the most expensive one (can’t remember what the model number is). I got a good deal at Boots by combining a discount and points event. I couldn’t work out the difference between models so went with top of the range.
I’ve used it about 5 times now on my legs and bikini line. I can see a big reduction in hair growth on the bikini line, not so much on my legs but the hair there grows very slowly anyway.

I also have no idea which one I have. I think it was £350 on offer from £450, about 2.5 years ago. It is brilliant. I use it on legs, pits, ‘tache, bikini (Brazilian) and those joyous weird, random dark hairs that are a gift of peri-menopause. It is fab.

Mine comes with 2 attachments - face/bikini (sensitive areas, basically) and legs. The initial round of hair removal/growth suppression is high maintenance, every two weeks for 8-12 weeks. It can take ages if you are doing large areas and my device can’t do both full legs without needing recharging, which is a pain. It would be good to just shut yourself away and get all the zapping done in one go but the battery life doesn’t allow that, ime. However, now i’m on the maintenance cycles (every 3-4 months) I find it much quicker to zap. Though I find the bikini area needs a more regular maintenance zap to keep it in check, more like every 8 weeks than every 12-16.

I have a precision one I got in 2015 for £350 from John Lewis...i Got it for my tache but have used it on my cheeks, side burns, legs, arms and underarms. I rarely need it now, hairs are so thin and barely visible if they do return. It’s the best beauty product I’ve ever purchased and my biggest secret. The best thing is you use it less and less so it should last years and years.

I've got a Boots Smoothskin zapper from a couple of years ago, but it didn't seem to work. Spent ages zapping away my leg hair, but it didn't seem to make any difference to the growth rate at all. I wonder if the lumea would work better/ be worth a go? I am quite pale with dark hair, so technically it should work. Is there anywhere that stock it , like QVC, who might offer a money back guarantee if it doesn't work? I'd love it to work, it would be a massive game changer. Am I deluded?!

The main thing that matters is the number of flashes - and thus how long it will last. After that consider where in the house you will mostly be using it - is there a handy plug or do you need cordless. Also consider where on your body (other than legs, presumably) you will want to use it. If on the face then you need one with a facial attachment, if bikini area then personally I wouldn’t bother with a special attachment and just go with the basic. Outside of all that just look around for the best deal on whichever models you’ve whittled it down to with the above.

Does this hurt? I notice there’s a gentle setting, and I was wondering why. I want it for my bikini bits, and I’m a bit of a sissy!

It shouldn't hurt if you have shaved and have it on the right setting.

There isn't actually much difference between some of the models, other than the additional attachments. Check if you would use them, if not, go for a lower model. I would avoid the cheaper compact model as it has a much smaller screen area on it do takes way longer to use.

I have a skinsmooth bare..had it at Christmas..I can now leave 10 days between treatments where underarm waxing or shaving would show through after 5 days. Could probably do my legs and bikini less often

I got a top of the range Lumea model for £300 just after Christmas. You have to do it every 2 weeks initially. Mine can be used corded or cordless and I use it plugged in as that gives the strongest blast and I don't need to worry about it running out of power.

It has 4 attachments for different bits of the body. I shave first and it doesn't hurt even though I use the highest setting. The only time it stings a bit is if I use it on skin that is wet/sweaty or on hairs I haven't shaved.

So far I'm very pleased with it. For the first week after a treatment the hair seems to be growing back quite normally, but in the second week it sort of falls out and by the time of the next treatment it's much thinner and downier. I shave much less often already and after one more treatment I should be able to move on to monthly maintenance treatments.

It takes me around an hour per treatment, and that includes both legs, bikini line, tummy, underarms, chin and tache. I just put on an audiobook and get going. I am a size 16 so if you have less surface area than me it will probably be a shorter job!

Also, my skin feels lovely and smooth after treatment. Apparently IPL was first devised as a treatment to make the skin feel good.

I have pale skin and dark thick hair, which is apparently the ideal for best results. You can't use it if you have dark skin.
