Best facial sunscreen for every day.

Can anyone suggest a really good facial sunscreen for every day? I want something that will look invisible on, and feel very light under my make up.

My Chanel foundation is SPF but not sure how effective that really is? And if I'm starting to use retinol I want a proper sunscreen with UVB and UVA coverage.

Helio spf 50 is what I use. It is what cosmetic doctors recommend.

To be specific it is Heliocare 360.

La Roche Posay anthelios xl

Absolutely great and a lovely base for makeup. Not chalky looking like some can be. A little goes a long way.

Shiseido Sun Protection Liquid.

Never burnt while wearing it and I live in Australia. Plus, it doesn't break me out and doesn't hurt my eyes.

Biore Watery Essence, has spf 50 and super light feel. You can get it on Amazon (or in Japan!)

Best for normal/oily skin though as it can be a bit drying when first applied. I hate hate hate the feel of sun cream on my skin but forget I'm wearing this

Another vote for La Roche Posay Anthelios XL SPF50+.

Feels like silk on my skin. I love it.

I like the cover FX spf 30 one, it's completely clear and makes a lovely makeup primer too.

For those using the LRP 50 how much do you use to cover face. The tube is small and I don’t want to waste it unnecessarily

Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence UV 50. Brilliant stuff, no European stuff comes close IMO. Been buying it for a year.

I do use the LRP on holiday / on a day out if I'm likely to get wet, but only because it seems to be more water resistant.

1/4 of a teaspoon just for your face. Face, neck and ears is more like one teaspoon. I would only use LRP Anthelios XL on my face and not anywhere else as I don't need a matte finish on my neck. Most people don't apply anywhere near enough sunscreen to get the stated sun protection - the bottle of LRP should last you 40 days if you apply it once daily.

Thank you. Which LRP Anthelios XL though? The cream or dry touch gel?

Orangesegment - sounds like you're using it to prevent burning. Do we need as much for everyday use? I wouldn't have the patience to use a different one for my neck every day.

This one, OP

Best facial sunscreen for every day.

And yes, orange is correct. Most people don’t use anywhere near enough. I use about 1/2 a teaspoon just on my face, every single day. I do live in Aus though.

This one is my favourite because it isn’t oily or sticky (on me, anyway) no matter how much I use. I think thick, greasy sunscreens discourage people from using enough.

I use Shisedo Senka Anti-Ageing, which is one of their Japanese lines. It's very hydrating and makes a great makeup base.

Another for the LRP shown above

Doesn't break me out and leaves skin soft but not greasy feeling

Gwenhwyfar - If you use less then you'll get less than the stated protection - think this is why high factor sun cream is encouraged. I'm primarily using it to stave off some wrinkles/am very pale and like my face to by same shade as body. I use a moisturising sun cream for my neck/arms/hands so that goes on like body lotion after I'm out the shower and then face sun cream goes on as the last step before makeup, like a primer. I have dry skin so theorise that putting on another layer of cream may seem less of a hassle to me?

Shiseido here too. I mix it with foundation.

I use the LRP one too.

I’ve just purchased the LRP one and started using it this week but I‘ve found that it flakes off and leaves little white flakes all over my face when I apply it. Am I the only one this happens to?

Report
Ididnthearanything · 18/01/2018 12:37

@KnockKnock It happens to me too, mostly if i wear it under make up. It's a great SPF but for that reason I don't like it. The tinted one is handy but still bobbles a bit.
I have the Japanese Biore one at the moment and it's great, but I do tend to oily skin. Good for days at work. If i'm not at work and out and about I use This Neostrata one , usually without makeup as it seems to have a handy 'blurring' property, bit of blusher and I'm done. Really good one.
