Getting upper eyelid surgery soon. Can anyone recommend high coverage foundation or concealer to cover the scars?

I'm getting an upper blepharoplasty soon and having a bit of a wobble! I'm taking two weeks off work but I think my scars might still be red when I'm ready to go back. I haven't told anyone in work what I'm getting done. Has anyone used good make up I could try and cover the scars with? I was about to buy Vichy Dermablend but the reviews online were pretty mixed. Thanks.

Estee Lauder do a high coverage foundation which is partly intended for scar coverage. Double Wear Maximum Coverage It is not usually out on display but if you ask for it at an Estee Lauder counter they should have it. I can testify it works very well and lasts a whole day.

Also Dermablend do a high cover foundation aimed at covering tattoos etc.

It is unlikely scars ill show on upper eyelids, just ordibary foundation should be ok, the scars will be in creases of your eyelids, so will be hidden

I've just had a blepharasty for medical reasons - you could say you are having cysts/chalazions removed?

You won't be able to wear foundation until the scabs have healed and the stitches have been removed anyway. I wore glasses, which meant most people didn't notice the cuts, and now I just use normal foundation.

The worst bit is the swelling, because the fluids will be drawn by gravity to your upper cheek. Cannot emphasise enough how important cold packs are for minimising the swelling and bruising.

Brilliant idea Lemon I'll just say I'm having cysts removed. I've got ice packs at home ready to go and will take arnica too. I'm back at work 17 days after surgery and get my stitches out 7 days after surgery so hoping I won't look awful by the time I need to go back to work.

My OH had the eye op to remove excess skin from the upper eyelid (as it was impeding his vision. So they look away less than if it had been for cosmetic purposes only, that's what the consultant said anyway.

I bought him a cooling eye mask from the Body shop. It's only £6. Stick in the fridge until cold and then put on eyes. He said it really, really helped. He was lucky and had minimal bruising and wears glasses anyway.

I'd be tempted to buy some cheap clear glasses and wear them - rather than putting makeup on - you'd be dragging at then a lot m, especially when cleansing - don't think that would be a good idea at all ...

Just re-read your post - you should be absolutely fine by the time you go back to work. 17 days is a long time to heal.

Thanks Bagel I've got reading glasses that I wear at work but I think they magnify my eyes so I actually thought wearing my glasses would make my scars much more visible. I'll see how it goes with regards to make up-I'll just need to see how my eyes are healing. I think I actually heal quickly (got a mole removed on my back a while ago and it healed really well) so fingers crossed. It's just I'm trying to hide it from workmates etc so makes things tricky.

How did it go? I am feeling great, I was so scared about the local (that bloody hurt going in) but I had a sedative beforehand and didn’t really care less lol. Got home after 3 hours and have just vedged on the couch since. Hope all went well for you

Yes mine went well too. It was a bit more serious and clinical than I expected as it as carried out in theatre. I expected it to be done on a bed in one of the consulting rooms for some reason! The local was bloody sore but didn't feel a thing afterwards. Left the hospital after three hours but the snow is really bad where I am so took 2 hours to get home as all the roads in were closed (usually takes 30 mins). My eyes were throbbing when we finally got home!
I slept sitting up in bed last night. My eyes are swollen and bruised but I'm already happy with the shape of them. I think they'll get worse before they get better but I'm not planning on leaving the house until next Friday when I get my stitches out. Lots of Netflix box sets and audio books to look forward to.
