Squalene The Ordinary

Has anybody used this ?
If so your thoughts please.
When /How do you use it ?
Morning or night?

I am disappointed with it as it is too oily ( which I wasn't expecting) and if I put it on at night my hair/ fringe will get greasy as I toss and turn sleep.

I bought it to try as I had been using jojoba oil (not The Ordinary) but thought I’d try squalene out. I use it at night but not every night, more of a night off from stronger serums. It is oilier than I was expecting so I only use a tiny drop. I don’t think I’d buy it again but the bottle will probably last me ages at the rate I’m using it! I always have to wash my fringe in the morning anyway so that isn’t a problem for me.

I found the same as you. Even using a tiny drop my skin and hair was so greasy and I would break out terribly. I persevered for a few weeks then ditched it and skin returned to normal. Really disappointing.

Squalene is in the special oil that forms on the skin in the crease between your nose and cheek... It is particularly slippery (watchmakers used to use their nose oil for lubricating tiny watch cogs and parts) and er, very oily.

Why on earth would anyone want to put that on their skin? What is its purpose?

omBreROSE I am wearing OmbreRose today! It was one of my mother's favourite perfumes and it always makes me feel cosy and warm.

Haffiana really?
Oh that’s lovely...
Yes, very sweet and comforting isn’t it.

I found it unusable because it didn't seem to sink in at all - just stayed there being oily and staining my pillowcases so I gave it to someone else after a few goes, the same for the retinoid (or whatever it's called) in squalene. I gave that away too, and re-bought the emulsion. I haven't got time in my life to be sitting around with a face that can't touch anything else (inc my hair) for hours and hours

It gave me a breakout, too. Not sure what to do with it now. Maybe I’ll see if it does my winter-dry shins any good!

Squalene is in lots of serums and moisturisers, it's a great ingredient. I can't see why you would want it as the only ingredient though.

Sometimes it is worth paying for the formulation rather than DIY and maybe this product proves it.

It really is horrible.
So greasy, therefore unusable. You couldn't use it under make up In the morning as everything would slide off or not even take on your face, iykwim.
You can't use it at night because your hair and pillow case would be destroyed.
I had purchased other The Ordinary products and was happy with them.

If you mix it with your moisturiser, it soaks in very quickly.
I use the NMF , but any make would be good!

I don't have the ordinary version but I think it's in a product I use, omoressence. I might be wrong but I think I remember reading it on the ingredients list.
The ordinary didn't recommend this product for me, you probably already know but if you speak to them about your skin type they will recommend a routine.

I mix it with my moisturizer when weather v cold/central heating on as I tend to get flaky skin then unless I use some sort of oil. If you hate it on your face, you could try rubbing it into hands/cuticles to use it up.

I bought some recently and like it - probably better for older skin that needs more oil/moisture. I've used it daytime when going out in the cold (it soaks in); mixed with a foundation to make it more dewy and as a nighttime moisturiser.
