Are Charlotte Tilbury products worth the ridiculously expensive cost?

For example, I absolutely look the look of the the Hollywood Contour Duo but bugger me it's £51. Ditto the lipstick trios - look gorgeous but £60 for three!

I love the perfume but I refused to pay that price for a plastic bottle (not even glass!)

I know she must be laughing all the way to the bank but is the quality of the make up really there?

I'm probably not the person to ask because I don't think it's possible for any contour/highlight to be worth FIFTY POUNDS unless when I put it on it literally transforms my face into that of say, Natalie Portman.

I've spent £40 on urban decay eyeshadow palettes because you get 16-20 shades and the packaging is so gorgeous it's a treat to look at. The quality is there and the colours lend themselves to an almost infinite number of looks.

But for a product like this where you get two things and can get items to both contour and highlight well for a tenth of the price? Get outta town.

It seems so artificially inflated, like she charges insane amounts specifically to give the notion that they're worth more, people think 'well they must be good if they can charge that much'! And the price makes them exclusive and lends an air of luxury and superiority. But at the end of the day, makeup is cream with pigment in and coloured powder and coloured wax.

If you have the money and will get pleasure from it go for it but I sincerely doubt anyone could argue with a straight face her items are 'worth it' when they're astronomically priced and we have a multitude of brilliant quality items available in places like boots!

It's all very emperors new clothes imo. Even if the quality was good I still doubt it can be worth that much.

For a contour kit I love soap and glory's little kit, it's a round compact with a cream blush, highlight and contour shade. And the contour shade is actually wearable (not muddy warm brown). It's about a tenner.

I have 3 products of hers that I absolutely love. The fake facial tan for summer, the finishing powder (I really love this), and the glowy primer.

I have never contoured and wouldn't know where to start. I also don't want to look stupid. I would definitely buy it if I went in the shop and they showed me how to use it and it looked good.

I've got a few of her products and to be honest I think they're a bit shit. The mascara made me look like a panda, the wonder cream broke me out..her eyeshadow palettes are nice but there are dupes for everything. Website called Temptalia is good for giving pretty good matches for most brands.

I’ve bought the Colour Chameleon Eye Pencil twice and I love it. It stays put all day and looks as fresh in the afternoon as when I put in on. I’m going to get either another one of those next or the Luxury Palette.

Oh but I bought the Unisex Glow stuff and hated it. It looked great when I first put it on but was too moisturising for me and made me look greasy. I think the Overnight Bronze one would be better.

I bought one of the Colour chameleons, it left a glittery mess all over my face, mostly in places I never actually put it.

I find the lipsticks dry and muddy.

I have found her items a bit mixed but I adore the Glow Instant Palette and I think it is good value as I use all the contents and it's a great size palette for travelling. If you sign up to Feel Unique's Platinum service (its free) and choose CT as your favourite brand you get 10% off all year. CT is exempt from their usual offers. Occasionally they offer 20% off your favourite brand. I love Pillow Talk lipliner too but was disappointed with the Pillow Talk lipstick which I found drying.

I've got a lip pencil and lipstick, which I think are very good. The colours are good and the packaging is lovely. I was also really impressed at how attentive the staff in Covent Garden were on a manic pre Christmas Saturday afternoon. I guess we pay for all this.

I've heard a few meh comments on here though so I wasn't sure what to expect.

As an aside - I'd be wary of a trio. Is it likely they'll all suit you? I'd rather spend £48 choosing two colours that you really love.

Housewife it's the pillow talk pencil and lipstick I have. I don't like Matte so I use a bit of eight hour cream on top.

'I find the lipsticks dry and muddy'

That's a very good description of them. There are some lovely colours in her lipstick range but the formula is definitely nothing special. The mattes are quite creamy when you apply them but become very dry over time. So on that basis, I would say no, her products are not worth the price

That said, the foundation makes my friend's skin look exquisite, and I have heard rave reviews about the Colour Chameleon pencils

I don’t understand the hype if I’m being honest, the magic foundation is anything but magic, the ‘beach stick’ leaves a lot to be desired and the eyeshadows are a lot less pigmented then much cheaper brands (make up revolution/morphe/sleek)

I like the legendary lashes mascara and pillow talk but that’s it, I don’t think it’s worth the money.

DD uses it an I've tried it because it's cruelty free. Not massively impressed tbh but we still buy it because of those credentials.

Wonder glow foundation- excellent
Blusher - also great.
Lip liner - terrible.
Lipstick- ok, a bit dry.
Her persona does annoy me - find the whole darling thing quite fake.

I love this palette so much. m.feelunique.com/p/Charlotte-Tilbury-Instant-Look-in-a-Palette-Beauty-Glow?url=Charlotte-Tilbury-Instant-Look-in-a-Palette-Beauty-Glow&slang The scarily dark blusher is great as an eyeshadow. All the shades are very wearable and I love the eyeshadows. I also have the Natural Beauty one but this is far better.

I'd say most of her products are great, and are worth it, the palletes are pretty good for simple makeup looks and the lipsticks are amazing, I wasn't too happy with the foundations and some of the eyeshadows are not easy to blend

I love the Instant glow palette too. Great staying power, highly pigmented so I only use a tiny brush of each. The colours look very dark for pale skin but can be applied lightly. I’ve used it everyday since I bought it in summer.

Her foundation I took back. Awful stuff with no staying power at all. Her Miracle cream was so so and I’d not buy it based on the sample. I haven’t tried the lipsticks . So it seems some things are great and some not.

The chameleon pencils are amazing. And I have the filmstar contour and highlight and really do rate it. I’m not a fan of the foundations at all.

Overall, and compared to lots of other products, both high end and high street, nothing that I have tried from her range has been worth half the money that they cost.

I have recently adopted Beauty Pie and can honestly say that I think most of the products are better quality than CT.

Oh but in a note a positivity I must add: I LOVE the perfume! It makes me dizzy with joy.

Broken, I love the perfume too. It's total Marmite though - a lot of people actually cannot bear it. A poster on here calls it 'Scent of a Drain' Grin It is pretty full on, I can see why it would not be for everyone

I bought one of her matte lipsticks. It's a lovely rich creamy texture and it lasts well but I can't get on with the shape of the lipstick itself. It's hard to put on neatly when applied directly without a brush because the end is chiselled into a really odd shape.

I bought one of the Chameleon eye pencils as well. I am unsure how to use it, I've tried but I can't get the hang of it. It seems too thick and glittery to work as an eyeliner but too pencil-like not easy enough to blend to work as an eyeshadow. Confused

I recently bought a By Terry pencil and it's so much better than CT's.

A little bit more expensive, but brilliant.

I have a few bits, some of which are great, some mediocre. On the whole I do think the range is overpriced though.

The colour chameleon pencils are not great and slide off. I've never had any problems with similar products. They need a primer which is not acceptable at this price range.

I like the overnight bronze mask. The pillow talk liner is lovely but you can probably get cheaper elsewhere. The Wonderglow is nice but not amazing.

I won't be buying from this brand in the future I think, but at the start I got suckered in by the sleek packaging (which isn't actually very durable) and all the social media hype.

I'm also not a fan of CT's ethos - her husband has allegedly never seen her without makeup and she takes it off in the evening before putting on a lighter makeup to sleep in. I find that quite tragic really. I love my makeup but think we should also be trying to encourage women and girls to feel beautiful in their own skin too. Sorry, got a bit sidetracked there!

I have the Magic Cream (I think it's called?).

I think it's like Nivea in the blue tin, but with a different smell. DH bought it for me- it's not the kind of skincare I would normally go for.

You do need an eye primer with the chameleon pencils btw.
