What do we think of these? I can’t decide. I tried one on and the cut was fabulous on me but it seems too dressy for most wear because of all the lace. Do you have one and what sort of thing would you wear it to?

Is it one of those knee length ones with long lace sleeves?

They are ubiquitous and a bit yawn.

I find lace dresses quite aging to be honest, especially lace sleeves.

My ex's DM had a beautiful vintage one when I was a teen, but I think cheapy ones more 1980s Madonna.

I love a laced over lay dress with a pattern peaking through. I don't mean body con ones like Amy Childs wears, that look really trashy yet old ladyish!

Lace dresses can be difficult, they can look a wee bit frumpy or a bit cheap.

I have a really lovely one that I will be wearing to my friend's Xmas get together and to the ballet, possibly on christmas day and out for dinner.

I have this one and I just love it, I wear it in the day with boots and a longish cardy and dress it up in the evenings with heeled boots or shoes. It's not everyone's thing but I love it.

That's very pretty Buster. It doesn't go with your user name at all!

Thanks Apile I'm really quite girly (like be clothes and make up) but I love a crude dirty joke too! blushgrin

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll leave it for now - I like the dress but have no idea where I'd actually wear it!

Now I’m Looking at the green lace dress in the wardrobe that I want to wear to a black tie do and wonder if I’m going to look really boring ☹️

I have this red one from DVF which I bought for a wedding and just wore to my Xmas party, I'm late 30s so not sure if I'm already in the 'old' bracket grin

spreadinggirth Wed 06-Dec-17 08:26:10

please and I'm looking a my navy lace one that I thought looked chic and understated but probably makes me look old shock

ohsofunny Wed 06-Dec-17 22:53:30

Buster that is gorgeous. Can I ask where you got it? Sorry to derail OP blush

calzone Wed 06-Dec-17 23:44:21

Where’s the dress from please?

BusterGonad Thu 07-Dec-17 07:36:38

It's from Oasis, but it was quite a while ago! I think it's called butterfly lace skater dress! I ❤️ it and also bought the dove grey one reduced to just £12!!!!!

RavingRoo Thu 07-Dec-17 07:39:02

I agree that it’s ageing.

Glamorousglitter Thu 07-Dec-17 08:02:10

Love a lace dress but think you need to be careful as it can be a little ageing.
However mixing it up with an oversized sweater and cool footwear cna rescue it somewhat,
Or biker jacket and trainers / ankle boots
Colleague was wearing one recently (to the knee dress similar to red one above) but with OTK boots and heavy knit cardi
