Can anyone help me find a retro LBD like the one in this photo?

I love the straps/neckline in particular.

Have looked at Collectif/TopVintage etc but can't find anything similar.

Must be plain black
Pencil/wiggle style
Under £50
Size 10 or 12 depending on the shop.

Anyone fancy helping me out?

I don’t know but I love that dress! Would it work with small boobs do you think?

You need to search for dresses with a sweetheart neckline.

Thanks for the suggestion Cracker. Don't think the Marilyn is all that similar as it is off the shoulder with a fishtail skirt. I want one that has straps like the dress in the photo and a pencil skirt. Thanks though.

Have been searching for sweetheart neckline dresses but to no avail.

Thanks anyway.

Ooh I know! Have you checked Vivien Of Holloway? There's some very nice retro styles. Perhaps you are looking for something like the halter neck one?

mscynical Sun 26-Nov-17 19:11:01

This is similar but probably more than you want to pay:

JesusTapdancingChrist Sun 26-Nov-17 19:30:54

Thanks all

@mscynical that is pretty damn near perfect 😍 but yes, over budget sadly 😢.

The navy Collectif was the closest I could find in shape terms but I really want black rather than navy and cotton/elastane rather than velvet.

The other one looks like one of those poor quality Chinese shops which I tend to avoid tbh, bizarre sizing and weeks for delivery. Also the back is so low it looks like it would make wearing a bra impossible.

Have been looking on eBay but they're all a bit....Julien McDonald o_O.

hendricksyousay Sun 26-Nov-17 20:12:22

Have you looked through boohoo ? They have so many little black dresses !!

MrsPicklesonSmythe Sun 26-Nov-17 20:15:49

Try sirens and starlets

IJustLostTheGame Sun 26-Nov-17 20:20:43

Etsy is your friend here.
There are hundreds of wonderful 80s and 90s black cocktail dresses on there.

Lindybop £19

JesusTapdancingChrist Sun 26-Nov-17 20:55:13

@happymama99 I saw that one but something about it looks matronly to me. Think it's the high back. Would really prefer something strappy.

Thanks for looking flowers

JesusTapdancingChrist Sun 26-Nov-17 20:56:33

I actually ordered this one from Lindy Bop last week but returned it as it was just not very well made/fitting.

Emelene Sun 26-Nov-17 20:56:50

I was going to suggest Lindybop too - I love their dresses!

JesusTapdancingChrist Sun 26-Nov-17 21:50:54

Thanks @RebelRogue but I'm getting a more.....Kardashian vibe than a retro one from that dress. Not for me.

RebelRogue Sun 26-Nov-17 21:56:33

I get what you mean. The really thin straps seem quite hard to find.

JesusTapdancingChrist Mon 27-Nov-17 19:33:01

I reckon I've hit a wall in my search.

Remembered that I've got this Collectif dress though which isn't exactly like the one in the photo but is very flattering so think I'll wear it instead.

And will be buying the Deadly is the Female dress as soon as so can afford to.

Thanks again all.

Saw this today and remembered you!

JesusTapdancingChrist Mon 04-Dec-17 19:11:32

chop that's gorgeous 😍

Love the back detail.

Off to check my bank balance <crosses fingers>

Thank you flowers
