Not sure if this is the right forum, but here goes :) - I"m 46 years old, fairly tall (5'8") and fairly slim built - trying to fit in exercise amongst a full time job, running a household and looking after 2 teenage kids + hubby is a challenge .. in addition to trying to look after myself :). Anyway, I'm looking tired ... not something that a good night's sleep will resolve, but more along the lines of needing a bit of a helping hand with a facelift. However, I have never had much in the way of boobs to speak of and have been debating having a boob job since I was mid 20's. We've never had the money for it (and we're not exactly rolling in it now,) but I'm guessing it's getting to the stage where it's now or never ... So, the problem is: I can only really afford to have one or the other done .. (facelift or boobs - not one boob or the other :))) - So, what do you guys reckon - facelift and look years younger and rested, but keep the smaller breasts, or have the boobs I want but still look like I need a good night's sleep and have a facelift in a few years' time - I just don't know what would give me more confidence ... any suggestions?

You can wear a padded bra to give the look of bigger boobs and honestly big boobs are going to sag quickly especially if there ( enhanced)

But looking younger for longer nothing much other than possibly fillers and Botox or face lift will do

Not going to lie, I have had a couple of things amended now namely boobs and nose. In your position and having a vague idea of pricing (where I am), I would get your boobs done and perhaps eyelids. You may find that's enough to give you a more awake appearance than having a full face lift. Good luck

Face and a set of chicken fillets.

Sensitive issue and not to sound too blunt, but dealing with the root causes of your insecurities would be my suggestion. Embrace ageing, dont resit it!
Why spend life worrying about the superficial such as appearance and fronts when you can make changes elsewhere if you are struggling.
Having a family with two kids will naturally be tiring...how about reducing working hours to part time? or asking for more help from your husband - if you both work full time, why should you be taking the impact of it all.

Try good skin care with a good retinol for your skin for 6 months then you could also try fillers/Botox first. Facelifts are a huge, painful op. Try injectables at least first!
Get a properly fitting bra- go to bravissimo. And get some amazing ones.
See how that goes first.
Try to focus on things other than your appearance- start a new hobby, some writing, a new exercise.

If you are as tired looking as you say you are.. Going for a full face lift will be noticed.

Agree with pp try medical grade peels, good skin care, botox and fillers--- go to a dr.

Yep, Botox fillers lasers etc first but you can easily spend £2k on this anyway, so it's still not a budget option.

I wouldn't have a facelift at 46! I'm having a brow lift and upper eyelid correction at 42. Then the plan is a small amount of Botox and fillers until I'm mid fifties and possibly then a lower face lift.

I think a facelift at 46 is very drastic. Agree with trying Botox and fillers first.

Thanks all for your input. When I say facelift, I'm talking more about a mini S lift (jowls) which is much less invasive and requires less downtime - I'm nowhere near read for a full facelift and am not bothered about any laughter lines - they tell a story, right?!

I can understand why people would think it's a superficial thing and to grow old gracefully but I'm truly not worried about that side of things (the alternative to growing old sucks!!) I'm active, love my job, try new things (got my scuba qualification last year and planning a charity sky dive with my family for 2018 ... aaarrgghh - I hate heights, what am i doing? ) but am also a great believer of trying to feel as good and attractive as possible as long as possible. For me that includes looking after myself and trying to look as good as I can - if that means a helping hand, then why not? Thanks for all your comments! xx

You don't need to defend or explain yourself op - pretty much everyone on the S&B board is supportive of a little help here and there! Looking at sagging jowls in the mirror is pretty sobering and I think 46 is when it all suddenly changes and you have to fight fire with fire 🔥

I would have the lower face and neck lift in a heartbeat !
I've got boob implants and unless you keep your weight quite low they can end up adding to a matronly look (not good), im seriously considering having mine removed/made smaller.

Face face face!!!! I vote face.

I have breast implants, they aren’t even that big but do tend to make you look fatter in all fashionable most clothes. After 10 years I’m considering implant removal / revision to very small ( I have almost 0 natural breast tissue).

OTOH, I recently had Botox for my 11 friend lines, I look 25 again!! Highly recommend

No one sees your boobs. I cover them up even more now I’ve had them done! They look quite good but it’s just not the fashion right now.

Also you have to realise that you will need to replace them in 10-15 years. I regret mine for this reason!!

You may not need a surgical face lift. Have you looked into threading (for jowls) or fillers and loads of other things that don't involve knives. Look at the website of Dr Tracy Mountford. Scalpels are becoming old hate now. You will only get 10 yrs out of a face lift anyway and after the menopause (without HRT) you face will change a lot anyway, So I'd say stick with fillers and temporary stuff till you are older.

Hm there really is nothing worse than desperately trying to cover up the inevitable though. Sort of embarrassing as it is always apparent to everyone else but the subject whenever "work" has been done.
It's a question of integrity and living gracefully to me.

PollyPerky · 25/11/2017 22:50

Oh go away with your moralising Danitruth. No one is telling you how to live your life. This is S&B not 'Ethics for Living'. 'Integrity'? What on earth do you mean? I suppose you never have your hair cut, shave your legs, wear make up.....you are 100% au naturelle.

And you are wrong anyway. Work done well cannot be seen in the way you think.

You're entitled to your opinion Danitruth and I'm entitled to mine. I'm not trying to cover anything up, nor do I feel I'm embarrassing myself by wanting to make the most of my features and looking attractive for myself and my other half for as long as I can. I don't actually care whether people notice that "work" has been done - that's kind of the point - no reason to do it if no one will notice it!!

Yes, mip0306, please ignore the rubbish that Danitruth is spouting and just go for whatever suits you best. it is almost a sin on MN now to even consider having your hair coloured! I'm losing weight at the moment for the sake of my health. My figure is a lot better but my face is a little bit worse. I'm not seriously considering it yet but I wouldn't hesitate to have some cosmetic tweaking there. Breast implants sometimes go wrong, leave scars and need re-doing after a few years so I'd leave that well alone. A slender athletic figure is a thing of beauty in my opinion, having worked so hard to get one!
