Maternity coats?

I am 22w with twins. Last time I managed with an old raincoat but don't think it will fit till the end this time, so decided to invest.....

But the only ones I can see are in New Look and look like the sort of thing I was wearing in 1994!

Anywhere does decent maternity coats that will not absolutely break the bank?

Hi, I just used to buy cheap coats from asda, Matalan or primark in a really big size and it looked fine, you can get the style that are meant to be worn big too and it looks modern. Used to team it with an over sized scarf... I was the same with tops, I just used to buy a bigger size as more modern, cheaper and better selection than expensive limited maternity ones.
The only maternity items I bought were 2 pairs of over the bump black dress pants for work from asda, 2 pairs of over the bump black maternity tights for work from boots(usually on deal) which I wore with one size bigger stretchy pencil skater skirt from river island(this was so stretchy I wore it my entire pregnancy for work and it grew with me), 2 pairs of maternity over the bump jeggins from Matalan & a pair of Matalan over bump black leggings that I wore around house. All cheap prices. Got some great wireless stretchy bras from asda too and big knickers Shock got even bigger granny ones from M &S on deal for the end when i was ready to pop! I don't advise maternity ones as they fit terribly and aren't comfortable!
Got them all bagged up for when try for baby number 2!!

The brand Mamalicious which you can get online from John Lewis and Next and I think ASOS has reasonably priced coats.
I got a maternity parka for £69 and it’s really cosy.

£69 I'd pay but not for a maternity coat as I consider that expensive...I just got a normal coat in bigger size and it was under half that price for my maternity but I'm obviously a tight arse Shock

Thanks!!

Yeah Bella I am all about the MnS granny pants. I am currently wearing size 18 (normally 10-12) and they are ridiculously comfy.

Am torn on paying for a new coat but I am due March 24th, my current coat is struggling, and I have a professional job where I need to look presentable. I am thinking I will get enough use out of it to justify it!

I just wore my regular coat not done up and got a massive scarf to keep my middle warm

Hi

I have this from Next (currently 33 weeks) and thought the panel could be zipped out after baby arrives so I can wear again

Good luck :)

Paula93 what a great idea,
Wish I'd seen that when I was pregnant as I love that!!

I got a zip in panel - means I can keep wearing my current nice waterproof. It's designed to be suitable for babywearing afterwards as well, which swung it for me! I ordered it from Amazon, but the company website is zipusin.co.uk/.

I highly recommend the Jojo double panel one. Bought it last year with 10% off code and am still wearing it as a normal coat this winter by removing the extra panel. Or, if i have 5 month old DS in a stretchy sling i keep the panel on and zip it up around him.

Anyone come across some warmer maternity coats? I have the Asda one but it is a bit thin and still feel freezing in it!

Debby08 · 08/12/2017 12:09

My vote is also with Azda and Jojo double panel. :)

sammy891 · 08/12/2017 12:14

Are the jojo ones very warm?? Thanks x

motmot · 08/12/2017 13:06

I had a beautiful pink one from asos. It was a boxy cocoon style so I could wear my non maternity down jacket unzipped underneath when it was really cold, but it was usually fine on its own (I live in a cold part of the UK). It sold on eBay for a very respectable amount once I'd finished with it. Get a maternity coat, making do with cold open coats or giant sizes isn't fun, or particularly attractive/professional!

Whatsthekey1 · 08/12/2017 16:02

@sammy891 The jojo one is super warm. I have 4 coats but i always default to that one even though it’s not that smart. Kept DS warm in today’s arctic conditions as well!
