Is like to look cosy and stylish instead of like a bag lady... what are your curvy must haves? Have you bought anything recently that you'd recommend? 👗

Haha - at least we can be frumpy together if nobody has any suggestions 😎

I'm a size 14 in denial (like to think im a 12 but I'm not!) so watching with interest...

I've become a size 14 this year after losing 50 lbs, so it feels amazing! I wasn't going to shop till Spring by which time I hope to have lost the final 28, but in the end naked wasn't a good look Grin. I've bought a load of things from Hush, Cos and Uniqlo. I've gone for a fairly soft, unstructured drapey look, mainly in the hope it will see me through another couple of dress sizes.

Nothing to add, but watching with interest. I'm desperate to find a coat. I'm a 14 on top, 16 on bottom and go in at the waist. All the straight boyish coats in the shops don't work for me, so interested to see if anyone has found a nice black wool coat with a flared skirt.

I'm a recent size 14. Just bought a gorgeous Cos jumper dress in a charity shop, which I now intend to live in all winter! With black opaques and pixie boots or knee high boots or heeled ankle boots.

Hush ruched skirt

Boden ruched dresses with a slouchy v neck jumper on top now it's colder.

Keeping an eye on this thread as I am a 14/16 (well 12/14 on top and 14/16 bottom).

I just turned 50 and am going through a compulsive shopping phase in a desperate attempt to claw back some kind of edgy look but 90% of purchases go back. I read here how great Cos, Hush etc are but I need clothes that fit my waist and as much as I'd like to wear edgy Scandi and/or breezy casual clothes, they make me look like I'm wearing a potato sack.

I'm tall so most trousers are too short in the waist and bag weirdly in the crotch but I love my new compact cotton trousers from Warehouse, and my long tops from BAM mean that if there is any crotch weirdness it isn't on show.

I have resorted to buying shoes because I'm so frustrated with clothes. Sad

Remus, I can't believe I've never considered putting a jumper on top of a dress. I've got a couple of Boden ruched dresses and also some v neck cashmere. I'm going to try that tomorrow.

It looks very 1980s, but that's my favourite decade!

I’m mainly wearing Boohoo dresses for work- I’ve found a ruched one and a wrap one that both hide my tummy, so have them in 2 colours.

I bought a neat little casual blazer from promod which is also working well. It’s really warm, slightly structured and is smarter than a cardi, but easy to move around in. I’m wishing I’d bought the black as well as the navy.

lego try Hellbunny for coats. They often have flared coats in black wool.

Watching with interest, I’m 14/16 but petite with it so arms/legs are always too long and shoulders too wide. Love winter clothes but do struggle a bit!

Can we have links to the dresses you bought Queenoflouise?

Also watching with interest. The majority of my winter wardrobe falls between 'getting a bit too tired and tatty to wear to work' and 'actually falling apart now' but my recent forays into the shops have been depressingly unfruitful, mainly because it's a sea of sweaty overpriced polyester on the high street as far as I could see.

The BAM stuff looks lovely for the gym trainedoposdum.

@Legolamb...I bought a lovely Star by Julien MacDonald coat last year that had a 'in' waist and flared bottom. I think if you look for military style lots come up

I like the Jasper Conran one at the top of this page

SmiledWithTheRisingSun the long vests and tops are very versatile and while I'm not partial to wearing gym leggings everywhere, they work just as well over skinny jeans and ill-fitting crotch-gapping trousers that I should get rid of.
I'm also always cold so I like the extra layers. Smile

Has anybody seen the Boden Laura denim shirt dress in real life? I'm wondering if it might work with a ribbed polo neck under, and ankle boots.

ilovecherries · 11/11/2017 21:30

I sent it back, Remus, it just felt too stiff and unwieldy. Plus I had to size up for the norks (a common problem for me with non-jersey dresses), so it felt very bulky round my hips.

Thanks, Cherries. I think I'd have the same problem with it. Shame.

I have the norks issue too (34hh) puts me off trying lots of things. Felt dreary in my usual skinnies and t shirt today again.
