Everyday dresses for SAHM

I’m just about at the stage where I’m pretty sure I’m not going to need to breastfeed whilst out and about after 2 kids and 2.5 years of breastfeeding and I need new clothes that don’t make me feel completely fed up! I’m desperately looking for some new everyday dresses that I can throw on with leggings and boots but are practical enough for sitting on the floor at playgroups or running around and the park - any suggestions of where to look?

I’m mid 30s, tall, big boobs, want knee length (every dress from pre-kids seems so short!), decent sleeve and preferably not too high neck. I can’t justify spending a fortune but I’ll probably wear them when I hopefully go back to work in September (teacher).

I don’t feel like I know what my shops are any more!

White stuff
Fat Face
All do items like you describe, that can be dressed up/down

Thanks. I’ve looked through them before but couldn’t see much other than some of the Boden ones. I didn’t think I was being fussy (quite happy with some fairly plain dresses so long as they’re not short and sleeveless) but maybe I’m fussier than I thought!

Hobbs? Or if you can have a wander round see what’s in stores what catches your eye

I like the dresses at Boden, or also, Me & I do some which are not too short, quite stylish and still comfy.

Mistral have some lovely things. I live in dresses from there. smile

Thanks for the suggestions - some new ones to check out!

Hush Tara dress or Ivy dress. Their jersey dresses are easy to throw on and look like you've made an effort. I know Baujken is also popular on here although I've never bought from them.

Primark have really good casual dresses at the moment. H&M too.

Sea salt are good for that sort of thing

teaandbiscuitsforme Tue 07-Nov-17 07:32:43

I can’t get to the shops at the moment so Primark etc are out. Restricted to online!

Tara and Ivy are new to me as well so thanks. And I’ll check Seasalt, not looked there before.

I’m a SAHM with pretty much the same requirements as you and agree with the Hush Ivy and Tara dresses, in fact I was wearing one of my 3 Tara dresses the other day to the playground and got a compliment on it.

I also have a couple from H&M so worth checking them out.

teaandbiscuitsforme Tue 07-Nov-17 07:35:02

Sorry, read that wrong. Tara dress and Ivy dress at Hush!

teaandbiscuitsforme Tue 07-Nov-17 07:38:19

I really like the Tara dress but not sure I could pull it off! What do you wear it with?

Another vote for the ivy dress from Hush. I can also feed in it fairly discreetly if necessary as long as I'm wearing thick leggings and sit in a corner! I like the Tara on other people but am not a fan of it on myself!

Also the Ivy dress has pockets.

Oh, I haven't looked recently but I got a couple of good ones from Gap in the summer.

Dorothy Perkins have a tall range and a shit load of dresses online. Reasonable prices as well.

ASOS would be my other go-to. Free delivery and returns.

Hi, in same situation as you re children and stopping b'feeding. I've just bought this and it's fab! Comfy and it's flannel so nice and warm for winter, it's midi on me at 5'6. I find it easy to throw on and it's really flattering. Jam girl dress from modcloth

Chrestomanciscat Tue 07-Nov-17 08:21:09

Also got pockets!

teaandbiscuitsforme Tue 07-Nov-17 08:21:48

I like the Ivy but assumed it would look like a sack on me - is it really baggy?

DP has always been my go to but all my DP dresses seem really short now and I just don’t like them. I had a scroll through tall but I’ll go back to it!

Hush have some great dresses but you need to size down as they come up big.
My referral code below gives you £10 off if you are a first time purchaser.
