Do you wear socks with heels? Come this way

Pls tell me about your sock wearing with heels/high heels.

I happened to try on one of my many abandoned heels yesterday whilst still wearing a sock...it was amazing! Suddenly I could walk in them, they were soooo comfy if a bit quirky looking. I e since goggled sock and heel wearing and it’s like a new world. But I’m worrried it might just be for the really alternative out there type?

Would you find it weird if you friend turned up in smart skirt suit socks and heels shoes for instance?

Would greatly appreciate photos too if you have any.

Yes I would find it weird. 😂

Sounds very hipster.

I sometimes do but only with heels where you can't see the socks

It looks awful sorry. 😐

I’d love to be able to do this - it is more comfortable by far - but it looks odd and completely ruins the smartness of the outfit; so I never do.

I think your assessment that it is done sometimes but is very alternative is very spot on.

Would tights not do a similar job without making you look like an extra from Grease?

it looks ok with those socks with the little ruffles. and I thinks it's better with clumpy heels than stilettos. go for it op blisters aren't fashionable Grin

I'm not a heels wearer, just an observer. I've seen this look good but I need you probably need to plan your whole outfit around it.

Ahem, - I think you probably need to.... etc

Oh crap! This isn’t going the way I’d hoped. Really most of you think it’s weird? Not even any of these (being the type of look I’m going for).

To the poster who asked about tights - I’m afraid tights just don’t give quite the same amount of support.plus the look is different with tights.

My niece does it and looks ace but I am sadly no where near cool enough to pull it off.

I quite like them with that pleated skirt but I''m with Ummm and think it looks better with clumpy shoes, although admittedly I'm not a fan of stilettos with any outfit so I would say that. I think you need decent ankles and probably long legs too, otherwise there'd be too much going on.

But I also think it's partly just about getting used to it. It's not that different from an ankle boot and I remember they looked a bit weird to begin with.

I do! I find frilly ankle socks or glitter ankle socks work well with heels.

Just try it, you can make anything look good with confidence and a smile.

Nope, still think it looks daft but I am ancient and know nothing about fashion.

If you are 22, slim and effortlessly cool then go ahead.

I wore frilly ankle socks with heels to a wedding about 6 years ago. It worked with the dress, I swear! Haven't done it since mind, I'm not cool enough anymore

No don't!! It looks ridiculous

Floisme · 28/10/2017 13:43

I think most things look daft at first and then the more you see them, the more normal they look - and a very good thing too, otherwise we'd still be in crinolines.

But it means it can be hard to tell at first whether it just looks weird because it's new or whether it really is unflattering. With this look, I think the shape of your ankles is probably the main thing.

Oh I love this look and would definitely try it . I saw it featured in the style magazine a week or so ago too.

Why do you have to be slim @AllPizzasGreatAndSmall ?

With the right outfit it looks super cool and I'd probably wistfully gaze and wonder at how cool and interesting you must be.

If you turned up to work OP in that third outfit I would certainly find it odd. Definitely not cool or edgy. More very very silly.

I used to do this with flares where only the tip of pointy shoe was visible. I don't think I could rock visible ankle socks.

AllPizzasGreatAndSmall · 28/10/2017 15:11

Accidentally, I could have added tall and beautiful as well. I just think the only people who pull that look off are models and to be honest it's more a look I've seen in magazines than real life.
