I feel like I look a bit of a mess. Having had DC2 over the summer I have joined Slimming World to lose some baby weight but although that will help I don't think its the answer. I have no skincare/haircare regime to speak of and get completely overwhelmed at places like Boots so end up buying random products and not using them!

I've decided to clear out the bathroom cupboard and start afresh and try and get into a routine before I go back to work in April - but where do I start?

I just want to be less... scruffy I guess. Once I get to target weight I can start to revamp the wardrobe but for now, start with the basics!

Skincare to start with you want a nice cleanser that you can use morning and evening. Any kind of cream/gel cleanser but not a foaming one. If you wear make up or spf you also want something like a cleansing oil you can use to take make up off in the evening, before you use your cleanser.

Am: Cleanse then spf/ moisturiser with spf to start.
Pm: Double cleanse (use both cleansers if using spf) then maybe a moisturiser/serum depending on your skin type.

Then you can add other things as and when you want them.

I am a fan of Liz Earle skincare: you could visit one of their counters ( look on website for Boots/John Lewis stockists) , and they will advise you on products to suit your skin for your new regime.

A good start is a gentle cleanser, low PH non-foaming cleanser, a good quality SPF (some of the Asian ones like Biore are meant to be brilliant and via Amazon/eBay). A good moisturiser without SLS. As little alcohol in ingredients as possible (low down the list).

Lots of ppl say the Body Shop Camomile Balm is a great cleanser, La Roche Posay Toleriane Dermo Cleanser is good (and so are their moisturisers) and will last for months. Superdrug Vit E range has a lot of fans.

I would get some bathing and pamper stuff, nice candle and glass of wine, bit of music, I like The Sanctuary rose and damask bath set, coconut oil on length of hair, have a nice bubble bath, facemask, body scrub, moisturize face, nails/hands/whole eye area,/feet/knees/elbows & body with coconut oil. Paint your your nails and maybe do a gradual tan like dove so you don't go orange. Makes me feel fab, and doesn't have to be done in one go, see it as investing in you there are lots of hours in a week and tou deserve a few just for you!

Treat yourself to some new underwear & clothes as you lose some weight - feels fab!

I'm sat here smothered after a late shift and feeling far less drab lol Flowers

Before you start chucking stuff out and buying new, what do you have in your cupboards and what sort of skin type are you?

Just trying to save you money and effort!

Decent haircut. Washed body and hair.

Sunscreen April to October. That's all the skincare you need. The rest is babble and packaging.
