I saw this on MN recently and can't get it out of my head.

What's maintenance like for such colours?

Is it standard high street chain hairdresser, or a specialist job?

How much should it cost? (SE England)

Not sure on cost in your area but we’d probably charge around £80-£100 for that.
The colours are lovely but they won’t last and without regular top ups it would possibly end up looking like a murky green colour.
I’d go through Instagram looking for salons near you that do this kind of thing. It’s not everyone’s expertise.

I read somewhere that a lot of these Pinterest hair colours are photoshopped and would never look so bright and bold in real life. I don't know how true that is, but it did put a damper on my fantasies about having mermaid hair. :/

Your example photos are beautiful, op. Hope you get what you're after!

Yep, probably true a good filter or lighting will make a colour pop more but they will look very bold to begin with but just one wash and that brightness can be all gone.
When it’s an all over bright colour then you can add a bit of colour to your shampoo/conditioner but obviously that’s not possible with a mixture.

Bum sad

TBF I suspected that would be the case. I am so not a high-hair-maintenance type.

Ah well, I will just have to park that idea.

Maybe someone will invent non-fading rainbow dyes one day. Soon.
