Black jeans made of - shock - denim?

High street shopping today and looking for fairly low priced skinny black jeans but all I could find were very thin cotton ones - jeggings really.

Tried the usual suspects - Zara, H and M etc. I had a look in Fat Face. Didn't get a chance to look at Gap and I know they have these new ones they are promoting so I will look there but does anyone have any ideas?

I want something that isn't either too thin or 90% lycra. And I might have a look at more expensive brands in the sales but probably not pre-christmas. Help?

I know Next is a 4 letter word here but I like their black jeans.

This is causing me massive frustration too. I just want black skinnies made of denim. Why is that suddenly too much to ask. Confused

I got great ones in Matalan about 6 months ago - thick but stretchy. I saw ones in New Look last week too.

Got some black, denim skinny jeans in Dorothy Perkins last month. It was my last port of call after trying and failing to find a pair in several other shops. Think they were about £20ish.

Leigh from Top Shop. Or Next.

Interesting.

I haven't tried Next - I might if we think the jeans are the exception to their rule Smile. There was a skinny jeans thread here a few weeks ago and I thought DP got real Marmite reviews.

Levi's yes - I can imagine they still make something in a lower fat lycra mix - but haven't they got a bit spenny in their old age? Which ones are skinny?

I buy mine from Asda or River Island! Asda ones are sucky in more and a thicker denim but suit me well- they’re £25

Top Shop have a new style of jeans now called Sidney. I've got a couple of pairs now and I'm really pleased with them. I used to wear the Leigh skinnies all the time, but these Sidney ones are thicker and more denim-y....that's what I wanted going into the colder weather.
Another bonus is that they seem to hold in my tummy more - never a bad thing Smile

Next black jeans really do stay black (Sainsbury's are rubbish for this btw). My daughter has some lovely ones from river island but not sure i could squeeze my size 14 bum into the jeans there.

If you don't mind non-black stitching, you can dye them. I'm wearing my black denim skinny jeans right now - cheap M&S ones (from MN swears by in fact). I ordered them, fit was great but didn't like the colour so much, so I dyed them black with a dylon pod thing in washing machine. As long as they're almost all cotton (mine are 1% elastane) it will work.

Also if originally black jeans fade you can dye them as well.

I’m wearing mine now. They were a bargain from Asda - I think about £12

If you like bootcut, monsoon do black jeans at the moment. The style is Nieve

Certain re Levis. 721ks are high waisted skinny but the waist isn’t too high. Interestingly (or not), I ordered a pair in a 26” waist via HoF, the only leg length they do is a 32”. They were good on but too long so I ordered the same cut, style and colour from the Levi Store with a 30” leg. They barely fastened around my waist and were a completely different fabric. The HoF 32” were true denim, the Levi pair, more like cotton. The Levi pair are going back and I’ll stick with the others as they’re a much better fit.

Not sure if they ship to the UK (I'm in the US right now) but Everlane have some fabulous proper denim black jeans.
