Honest opinion of this dress please?

I have a work do next week and was going to order this. I’m terrible when it comes to making decisions about clothes.

I’d probably wear tights and black heels, not sure about a jacket or coat?
Is it too officey for an evening event? I’m clueless Confused

Thanks.

Honest opinion of this dress please?

It's nice (though not my style at all)

I think if you wear sheers (perhaps 30 denier) instead of opaques and add some blingy jewellery + red lippy it will lose any office connotations it might have.

bluejelly · 19/10/2017 18:25

I like it

bluejelly · 19/10/2017 18:26

And no I don’t think too Office-y Smile

neveradullmoment99 · 19/10/2017 18:26

Its fine :)

Looserwoman · 19/10/2017 18:27

I like it. It's striking. I think black opaques would be too heavy though.

Kitee · 19/10/2017 18:27

breakable I think that’s why I’m swaying, I don’t know if it’s my style either - I don’t think I have a style! Blush

Thanks blue

And yes sheer tights, black would be too much i think.

CuckooClockChimes · 19/10/2017 19:02

I like it

But what kind of do is it? Just asking, because it's not very 'party-y' IMO x

Kitee · 19/10/2017 19:04

Cuckoo it’s a sort of drinks/ snacks/ canapés thing. Not too formal but not a “party” if that makes any sense.

I don’t like it, but only because of the shape at the bottom and the neck. I like the black and white of it. I think you’d need good arms as the ends of the stripes might make your arms look wider than they are.

sooperdooper · 19/10/2017 19:12

I think it's quite office wear & more expensive than I'd expect

Kimlek · 19/10/2017 19:16

I think it is okbut only ok. It depends how flattering it is on you and how you feel wearing it. I'm amazed it is £118. It doesn't look that expensive.

Kitee · 19/10/2017 19:18

Hmm I know what you mean about the arms caulk although I like to think mine are ok even if they weren’t what they were ten years ago Angry

Still swaying on whether to get it.

Kitee · 19/10/2017 19:20

I know, I don’t normally spend that much but I cannot find anything else I even remotely like.

I guess I could send it back if it’s awful on me but I don’t have a huge amount of time!

SinglePringle · 19/10/2017 19:20

I really don’t like it. Makes me think of someone who is still wearing 90’s Karen Millen.

SinglePringle · 19/10/2017 19:21

Also - those stripes make the (probably) size 6-8 model look ‘wide’ across the hips (and she ain’t).

olympicsrock · 19/10/2017 19:22

It’s fine if you have good arms and slim hips. I think the cut of the hips could be unflattering if you are pear shaped.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/10/2017 19:25

I really don't like it at all. As a pear shape it would look hideous on me.

mctat · 19/10/2017 19:41

I don't like it much either, sorry. I can see the 90s Karen Millen thing! I think you'd have to be tiny for it to be flattering. Good arms and not a hint of armpit fat Grin

Kitee · 19/10/2017 19:43

Haha ok maybe time to reconsider 😂

OP posts:
SmilingButClueless · 19/10/2017 19:47

I'd be a bit concerned about the length as well. Depending on how tall you are, it could end up being that really unflattering regulation school skirt length.

Kitee · 19/10/2017 20:03

smiling I’m 5’5” so kind of in between, with heels 5’8”

All I can think of is old school Karen Millen now 👀

I am afraid SinglePringle's assessment is spot-on

ItsLikeRainOnYourWeddingDay · 21/10/2017 11:51

Don't wear tights, especially sheer ones Confused.

Pair or with a bright bag/jewellery and strappy heels.

It will still look office but less so.

CountFosco · 21/10/2017 11:58

Since it's a work do you probably still want to look a bit officey, the same kind of shapes as you wear at work, just a tiny bit more bling.
