Numbing cream before laser hair removal?

I bought the tria laser and I can tell it works because it really hurts! Do you use a topical numbing cream before doing your at home laser treatments? And if so which one? I think I read somewhere to avoid doing it during your period as you're more sensitive to pain during that time. Do you avoid using the laser during your period?

Take paracetamol and ibuprofen 30 mins before, it definitely helps
