Oh GOD I'm going to a rock concert. Earrings?

So as part of my impending midlife crisis, I am going to a rock concert tomorrow. Planning on coated jeans and a black shirt but need earrings to make it all work. PLEASE HELP. Am forty and a tall size 10 (does that make a difference? Prob not) with a dark brown bob.
Thank you thank you.

Silver not gold to start with, if you go fur metal. Rock is black and silver Smile

Maybe some chain mail ones.

Or tassel earrings are highly fashionable at the moment, maybe in a statement colour like emerald green.

Don't do diamanté or anything that looks like "proper" jewellery.

Ps - You probably want dangly that are about 1.5-2" max long. Any longer and they will be too low, any shorter and they'll look a bit safe/standard evening sorts. Studs are ok but they'll get lost in the hair and bigger dangly will jazz up the outfit more.

Fab, thank you! Excellent tips. I am rather hopeless... any ideas which high street shop would be best?

Topshop generally has a good selection of reasonably priced jewellery

Wear whatever you want! Nobody will care!
If you're standing though wear comfortable shoes!
If it's a crowded one and you're standing don't wear long coats/jumpers or they'll get trodden on.
Have fun!

I'd go for some chunky silver hoops.... unless you're in standing area where they're likely to get caught if you're moshing ;)

I'm 45 and went to a gig (rock concertGrin) last week in what I wore to work. A black pencil dress and a white jacket. It was dark. People couldn't have cared less. I didn't care either. Just don't wear Chanel shoes like I did because you will be standing up for hours in spilled beer and god knows what else AND THEY WILL BE RUINED!

If you're a tall size ten with brown hair I'd go full on with chandelier earrings because it would be such a nice contrast with your hair.

Don't know if gold or silver would suit you though as no idea about skintone?

No one will care what you're wearing, just be comfortable.

Don't stress the earrings - stress the shoes! Only your most comfortable and ideally with toes covered!

A gig is a place where you can guarantee no one will be looking at your outfit, and certainly not your earrings. Just wear what you like and is comfortable

Who are you seeing? I appreciate you want to feel confident but, believe me, no one cares what you're wearing (unless it's a massive hat blocking the view, or a bloody rucksack you don't take off your back!)

Placebo. (that counts as rock, right?)

Agree with the above that nobody will notice too much what you are wearing however I'd still say if you want to then there's no harm in planning outfit carefully for yourself. Sometimes just "go comfortable" is a cop-out/excuse for people not bothering with appearance because they don't know what to wear or are so down on their appearance they've given up so pretend it doesn't matter beyond comfort. When in actual fact if you can combine comfort and style then why not?!

Just musing here really but I don't agree to "nobody will care so just go comfortable", if you are obviously interested beyond comfort in what you wear then I think that's great. Smile ...why not have fun with fashion/try to plan something you enjoy wearing for effect, beyond comfort alone?

Placebo. Cool! Your planned outfit is perfect. Definitely go for silver earrings. And going to a gig is not an impending mid-life crisis😀

I've name changed for this because it's fairly identifying. I used to know Placebo fairly well years ago (snogged two of them!). I went to hundreds of their gigs. IME their fans are super nice and kind off nerdy so you will be fine. Also the band must all be in their late 40s now (and dads) so hardly hip young things.

Cor...kudos!

Any idea what earrings they'd wear to a gig... Grin

You have been SO helpful, but hours of shopping today got me...nothing.

I looked at silver, and am absolutely on board with the medium drop. But then I got lost.

Any chance of some links to specific jewellery? SORRY.

Having read the thread about sexual assault, maybe a chastity girdle might be a necessary accessory

See through mesh top and a leather kilt with huge, ant-eye type glasses? I mean it was 20 years ago!

Sorry Enid / OP

Last proper concert I went to I wouldn't have worn earrings, as I'd have been too worried that they would get ripped out in the jostling. But I'm more sedate now - seats only for me

MyLittleDragon · 13/10/2017 23:20

Can't do links but on topshop website there's silver double chain mail earrings and silver cross drop earrings, both of which I think would look great with black.
