I love this, very similar to a designer one I can't afford but M&S have styled it horrifically and it's put me right off. Have I reached old lady style without realising or does M and S have a nice blazer but no idea how to sell it? Guide me mumsneters!!

It's potentially quite nice with slim 7/8 trousers or jeans. The checked skirt they've styled it with makes it awful!!

Yeh it's nice, just needs better styling as you say.

Looks very 80s.

Which may be the look you are going for.

M&S have styled it terribly. Styled like the Balmain one is, it could look good.

I really don't like the buttons but I'm not a fan of double breasted anything or gold metal. It looks like it should be worn with white linen trousers and a jaunty captains hat whilst cruising on your motorboat that you bought with your retirement savings.

Or like you work in a travel agency with a staff uniform.

I don't like it, sorry. I think the gold buttons make it look really cheap, and knowing M&S lately, the fabric isn't likely to be good either.

I had one like that in the 80's!!

Channelling the 80s.
Expensive irony.

Loyly- It's the Balmain one I really want! This is a great copy! I know it would look great with skinnies but it just looks so naff on the M and S website!

I don't like it, but yes I think it is a good approximation of the Balmain one. You could always replace the buttons.

I think the Balmain one looks good. M&S are horrendous at styling clothes, I have to ignore their pictures while I buy their stuff. They seem to think we're all middle aged women from the 80s rather than middle aged women in the teens (what decade are we????).

I think if the M&S one fits well (you'll probably have to size down) then it could look good but the real test will be when you put it on.

I bought it last week and I'm really pleased with it! I've work it with a plain white All Saints T, blue skinniest and tan bag and heels. I also had an Alexander McQueen scarf on in the morning and got a few compliments. For the price I think it's great!

I am waiting for delivery of it. Jennifer Aniston used to wear the Balmain one with jeans all the time and I have always liked it.

The thing about blazers is if they are not cut perfectly they look like a cheap costume.

Report
Pinkvici22 · 24/09/2017 09:22

Agree blazers need to be cut well. I'm busty so double breasted doesn't usually work for me but this does Wink

I have ordered it, it's nearly sold out now! I tried it in the shop and it did seem to be cut well.
Just need some good quality tees to go under it if anyone can recommend?
