Can Winters wear orange, and if not what is persimmon?

Just as the title says really.

In the charts I've seen online one of deep winters' best colours is persimmon but I can't make out what colour it actually is.

Is it orange or orangey red or brownish orange?

TIA Smile

I don't know what colour they mean, but a persimmon is a pure bright orange colour with no brown.

That would be an autumn or spring colour rather than winter. Winters and Summers definitely can't wear orange. Well, obviously they CAN, but ykwim.

I don't think persimmon isn't one of winters best colours as it's orange and winters shouldn't wear orange if they're keeping to their palette

Here's one of the charts I found online with persimmon as a recommended colour. I would love to know your thoughts on it as it's been confusing me!

I've seen orange in various winter palettes, but it doesn't appear in the system I use (HoC - am an analyst). BUT it used to, according to one much older consultant I spoke to once, and I have seen the odd Winter who looks good in it (they are usually at the less cool end of the Winter skin tones), and it has to be properly bright, almost so bright that the warmth isn't noticeable, iykwim. It also goes with almost bugger all other Winter colours IMO.

Thank you very much Hopefully, that's interesting.

I've had my eye on this jumper. I won't get the opportunity to see it IRL so was going to order it online. Would it look ok? What do the Winters think?

Persimmon is an orange orange. I think that jumper looks like right Smile

I'm probably a winter (not "had my colours done") and I suit any colour as long as it's bright. Pale pastels make me look like I'm ill!

Love the jumper and orange!

Thank you. I've been trying to get away from wearing really dark colours all the time through winter. I look at my pile of ironing / folded clothes and so much of my winter wardrobe is black / charcoal and navy. I've been trying to venture away from the dark side!

Sorry to derail but how do you find out what colour you are?

Orange would look terrible on me and I'm a Winter.
Blues, cerise, black, white, purple, forest green look best on me.

Well, the order has been placed now, will have to wait and see!

I am hoping it's not a million miles away from the colour of a knitted dress I have had for years which is an amazing colour (not red, but a really strong orange IRL - pic attached).

My worst colour, mustard, seems to be everywhere at the moment. I also look on the verge of throwing up in camel and most yellows!

I don't think it would be flattering in cool seasons as it looks like a true orange..maybe more of a blood orange would suit? There's really no way of making orange in a cool shade is there??

Have you ever seen an old fashioned persimmon (before 2010 basically, the kind that is very soft inside). They are a very deep orange colour with a red rather than a yellow undertone.

Yy, I think the orange I was hoping for was one with a reddish undertone Dustbunny1900 and Ttbb.

I've always loved orange, such a cheery colour. I'm hoping if I try to look my best with a nice red lipstick the jumper might work (this is my solution to every colour I've tried to wear which might not be 'winter')!

Yellows, mustards and camel colours make me look ill too.

I love that jumper. It wouldn't be great on me. I discovered recently that rust looks good on me. Orange is difficult.

I'm a winter, and I wouldn't wear orange - but having said that, I have a scarf which is deep pink, red and orange, and that works, and a dress which is navy and white with orange accents, and that works too. So for me, I can cope with bits of orange, but wouldn't wear it as a block colour.

I'm a winter and I look good in very bright tomatoey corally red. Not sure what persimmon is, to be honest!

As others have said, strictly not as orange is warm not cool however I also think Clear is a really key quality of fab winter colours so a vivid bright orange would look good imo especially if you mid / deep skin toned. I think you know when it's right after a while- if it makes you smile and you get compliments it's a winner!

I think it depends if you are warm or cool toned. I'm cool toned so orange looks awful on me. I do suit a more pinky coral though.

Ps as a cool pale faced Winter thank goodness for burgundy this season and quite a lot of red too in a sea of camel khaki mustard hell!

I'm definitely a winter, and wear orange, mustard etc but they are clear strong colours and I wear them with charcoal.. seems to work for me ..
