I like French Connection for winter coats. I have a black long puffa coat and another nice grey classy one. Not yet seen what they this year though.

Woolrich down coats are cheaper but still not cheap. Mine is about to start its fourth winter and looks almost new.

My woolrich was as expensive as Moncler.

I got a long duck down padded thing last year for dog walking and it's fab. Warm but not too bulky.

M and M direct have got a very cheap Moncler knock off, but I can't say how warm it would be!

Aigle? Not quite as swish as Moncler but I've had my Aigle coat for 5-6 years and I love it!

North Face? They are bloody boiling.

Just be aware of down coats and British weather, they don't tend to cope brilliantly with rain.

Canada goose?

I have a moncler and Burberry down jacket. They are both great

Schneider is an Austrian make that does lovely down coats at considerably less £££ than Moncler. Still quite shapely and very warm.

Canada Goose are as £££ as Moncler.
