It's a 14-16. Gorgeous. Practically new. I'm an 18 and it's unlikely to ever fit. What do I do with it?

Don't know but following. I have just inherited a fur coat from my MIL. It fits but I don't think I could wear it!

sell it on ebay? Make into cushions? Donate to local charity to raffle?
Can you make it into a furry throw?
I don't think i could keep it myself, but someone else might be able to do something with it...

Ebay?
Maybe someone from Russia will buy it?

I understand these are very popular with pet shelters, as blankets and comforters.

Has it been kept in cold storage?

Keep it and treasure it. Watch out for moths and every now and again, wear it!

Sell it to a vintage clothing shop in London or somewhere?

I certainly wouldn't be donating a £4K coat for use as a dog blanket!

Following with interest as also inherited a couple, don't think they are valuable though and I like the pet shelter idea but can never quite bring myself to contact one - bit worried about reaction for some reason.

How can it be vintage and practically new? Did you pay 4 grand for it recently?

I've had this and it's really hard to get rid of fur. It can't be worth £4K, if it was you could sell it for £2k and it would be snapped up

It's hardly been worn. The lining in it is perfect. It's a really beautiful coat but I'm not sure I could wear it. My Gd bought it in London for my GM in 1972. It cost 4k in 1972 😱

If it's not been stored properly it will be devalued to the true fur collector. Temperature is key.

Iheartjordanknight · 17/09/2017 19:37

Could you look at sending it to auction then maybe?

What kind of fur is it?

Were would I begin? Fashion auction? No idea how that works.

I don't know what kind of fur. I'd have to ask someone.

I would call Sotheby's or similar and ask their advice

£4K in the 70s is like the equivalent of £100k today. It must be a significant peice

My friend is a designer and bought some vintage fur coats then turned them in to stoles and sold them on that way. They're absolutely beautiful and so warm.

Could you get it made in to something else or see if any designers want to buy it?

Christ, just saw it was £4K in 1972. Yes agree to getting it properly valued

What animal is it?

I have inherited 3 fur coats - one more gorgeous than the other but there is no way I could wear any of them (the snow leopard one makes me weep).
I remember my grandmother and my mum wearing them Blush and how they smelt of Chanel No5 and were excited at going out.

I cannot get rid of them, I cannot wear them Confused
The poor animals are dead.
So, so pointless, but stunning and full of emotion for me.

Gosh, that was an unhelpful post, wasn't it? Blush

I ebayed a fox fur coat that belonged to my Mother in Law in the 70s. It cost about £1k new and I got something like £80 for it. That was what similar ones were going for too.

Yours is presumably a more expensive fur so might have held its value better.
