Calling all apples. What have you bought recently?

I'm trying to buy some new clothes but finding it impossible to find time or decide what I like.

Any other apple shapes care to share some wisdom about recent purchases which look nice? Ideally booby apples who are about a 12-14 and medium height! But any suggestions very gratefully received.

I asked this a few weeks ago and mostly got told to look at plus size places, which I'm ashamed to say knocked my confidence as i don't consider myself plus size although at the moment I am recently post partum so a bit bigger than normal though I admit this is a little pathetic.

Anyway hoping to get some inspiration from Apple shapes who have bought clothes recently

Huge thanks in advance

I bought a navy t shirt dress from benetton via ebay, love it. Heavy material do drapes rather than hugs the portly areas. I now looking for a winter one, but no joy so far. So i am in my staple skinny jeans, long vest and jumper.

nottheretoargue could you link to the side fastening Hennés trousers? Assume you mean H&M - Hennes that was!
I'm always on the look out for side fastening trousers - very flattering.

I'm a non booby apple, size 10-12, so not exactly what OP is looking for. But I recently bought this -

very flattering on me but like I say, I'm small of boob!

Hello, tall busty size 14 apple here Grin

I bought a couple of dresses from Esprit this week and they're brilliant, nice and loose around the waist but with enough shape to be flattering. I bought a similar one from Esprit in the summer (sleeveless) and wore it endlessly, it was so comfortable and easy to wear.

I bought this in black. The drawstring actually falls on my hips rather than my waistline, but I like that - if I wore it on my waist I'd have too much fabric bunched up at the top, and the skirt would be minute. I LOVE this dress and I know I'm going to get so much wear out of it.

This is the other one I bought - very similar but with this one the drawstring does hit my waist.

I mostly work from home, so with the school run and twice daily dog walks, these are the sorts of dresses I need - I can just throw them on, add tights/leggings plus boots/trainers, and I'm good to go. They look good dressed up with a bright scarf as well. They're similar to the sort of dresses Hush sell but I find Hush dresses less forgiving of flabby midriffs - and more expensive!

june that esprit dress is lovely, how long is it please?

JuneFromBethesda · 15/09/2017 22:25

Which one? I'm 5'8" and both dresses are an inch or two above the knee. Short without being indecent Grin

Thank you, i am the same height, it is the first one I think is particularly lovely, though i like both!
Thanks for the inspiration Smile

I'm a short, reasonably busty 12 (14 in jeans) and the best things I've bought recently are a few Boden dresses that somehow make me feel like a bombshell, they're just cut so well for a 'womanly' figure. I'm 29, and definitely not frumpy. I've been complemented a lot.

June, would you say the sizing from esprit is accurate? Loving both dresses.

Also would like to say that I have a couple of side fastening trousers from H&M, they are fab; slim fit, high waisted, wash well and don't need ironing!

bumbling I find Esprit sizing fairly reliable and accurate, yes. They also usefully often have a note with each piece of clothing saying whether people have found it true to size, larger, smaller etc

I bought the first dress in a medium, and it's just right. I bought the second in a large (because the website said it came up small) and that was right too.

I hope you love the dress too RickOShay - please update when you get it!

I'm interested by the suggestions of side-fastening trousers, I haven't worn such things since I was a teenager as I felt they emphasised my tummy, without any zips or buttons to distract the eye! I can't imagine them being flattering somehow ...

Lots of brilliant ideas, thanks.
I'd never try a dress like the Esprit ones but I might give then a go.

I bought some Asda wonderfit black jeans recently, they have faded pretty quickly but fit really well. I'm size 12/14 -5ft4, 36 g. ALL of my weight is round my middle.
I have also recently purchased some of the magic pants off the Facebook adverts and Shock they are absolutely brilliant! Can't recommend them enough.
They were about £20 and even as I ordered them I was wondering if I had space for them in the 'discarded useless painfull never worn' drawerGrin but no, they are awesome!

I've just ordered this phase eight dress, hoping it's not too volumous.

That is gorgeous just, let us know how you get on with it. If you could bear to post a pic and some stats fit comparison that would be amazing, but I understand if you'd rather not and think I'm a nosey weirdo for asking

I've heard lots about these wonder jeans, must investigate. However I must also focus on tops and dresses as they are my problem!

Any top ideas to go with the jeans would be very welcome indeed

I looked at those side fastening trousers too but the sizing in H&M is messed up so I didn't have the time or inclination to try on
