Need work jackets but not formal tailored styles

Office dress code has now decreed that simple cardigans are not smart enough but we need not wear formal tailored women's suit jackets.

I thought I had found something suitable online but when it arrived I realised that it has silly 3/4 length sleeves leaving me with cold arms (office is at a temperature that suits the majority but I feel the cold more than most).

We are allowed jacket style cardigans (so long as they don't get scruffy like some knit wear can do over time) but I'm struggling to find anything.

I'm not fussy whether it comes from high street/on-line or ebay but I need to find something fairly soon as I'm supposed to be setting an example for others apparently.

Can anyone help ?

Honestly, I'd just go for formal jackets even if not technically necessary. At least then you get a fair choice of items. I can't imagine there's much in the way of slightly-more-formal-than-a-cardi type jackets around.
I'm not required to wear a suit at work, but I mostly do because it's easier!

I would go for jackets too, I can't really imagine what would fit your description. Casual blazers maybe? Would they work?
You could check Esprit and St. Olivier.

I love 3/4 sleeves as otherwise I end up scrunching the sleeves up.

I would go for a blazer of some description. There are plenty that aren't tailored. Zara is good for crepe blazers with no buttons. I also had one in the summer from River Island.

Dressier would be a jersey blazer - Boden have good ones.

Oasis have a nice-ish jersey blazer at the moment - burgundy, navy or black.

Could you wear one of the waterfall styles? They seem less formal to me but still smart.

Whistles do some brilliant sort of slightly casual blazers in a kind of stretchy material. I've got a few I live in at work - v comfy but stylish and smart. They normally change the colour once or twice a year - think it's navy blue or a sort of orange bordering coral at the moment. spends too much time in whistles

I got a few bits in Monsoon. Not sure if they will be warm enough for you though.

Joules have quite a few blazers which are tailored but not overly formal which might work? Otherwise I've seen more casual Knitted coats in White Stuff in the past?

Military style jacket?

Per Una (I KNOW) had a nice one in black with red trim, kind of smart casual. See link:

Full length sleeves too!

I have this textured jacket in navy and it's fantastic - looks great over trousers skirts and jeans, wears brilliantly and washes really well:

I have something similar at work. I'm meant to be corporate but look ridiculous in formal jackets.

I always search jersey jackets on ShopStyle and then filter down to blazers. Still trying to build my collection up so do share if you find any gooduns!!

LK Bennett usually have a couple of nice structured knits that are smart enough for a smart office if worn over a fitted dress or similar

Huge thanks to all of you ladies for these fab suggestions.

After checking loads of them out I now am far more aware of the magic words to use when googling for the sort of thing I'd like. In the end I loved loads of them but sadly I'm late ordering for this season so some suggestions were sold out in my size or choice of colour.

I have ordered 2 items from Great Plains (reduced price too and who doesn't love the thought of a bargain) although it is sad to know that size 16 (I like them roomy to get layers under in the colder weather) is considered XL by some of these retailers.

Once again, mumsnetters rock, especially at style and beauty !

I might also go shopping in RL to try on the little zip up quilted M&S jacket I've seen on line too.
