Autumnal foot-wear

I know, I know - it's still August - but we're in the north east of Scotland and autumn is definitely here!

I would live in toms, ballet flats or havaianas all year round if I could but my feet don't thank me for the cold! I don't want to go into full length boots yet and my converse are only fine when I'm dressed more casually - what do I wear when I want to be smarter but not full-on winter?! I have 2 pairs of ankle boots but they both have quite a heel on them so aren't always suitable.

Advice/recommendations please wise S&B Mumsnetters!

Chelsea ankle boots for me! Either plain or with a bit of brogueing.

Or a pair of flat lace-ups like the Clarks Hamble Oaks (can't link as their site is down - presumably they're about to launch their new AW stuff).

I lived in brogues last year, good transition and personally I'm happy to wear them with dresses/jeans/etc.

These and these are the ankle boots I currently have - both on the dressier side and work great for me as I have narrow feet.

I like the idea of the Chelsea boots but I worry that I'll look like I have clown feet with them being flat and also maybe wider than what I normally wear. Maybe I feel I go for them in a different colour like a silver or something they wouldn't look so big as if they're in black or brown?!

I don't know! I'm wick at all this style stuff hence why I find what I like and stick to it - I finally got rid of a pair of 13 year old boots a few weeks ago after Timpson told me they wouldn't fix the heel for me anymore as they were too badly damaged! I shed a little tear!

Go for a more casual ankle boot. Hudson are great if you like to keep them for years as they usually have leather soles and are repairable.

These look neat on the foot and come in black too....

Just feeding back that I went for the first pair recommended on the thread and I love them!! I would never normally have even picked them up but when I passed the Dune store today and tried them on I fell in love with them and they are way more stylish than they look on the shelf! They are so comfy too!

Thank you PNGirl

I am also tempted by these ones but wary after my Ophelia ones got scuffed and it's hard to repair metallics
