Best Wellies

Mine have a leak. I want the best wellies for the money - high, leak proof. Looks don't matter, it's for sloshing around muddy puddle fields, not festivals with short shorts!

Le Chameau are probably the best out there- pricey though!

I have neoprene lined Aigles. Onto their third year, used on towpaths/river paths/muddy fields.
Love them. Cost me about £135.

Dlpdep · 22/08/2017 22:45

Great, thanks a mil for the recommendations, I'll check them out!

Dunlops, £20. I wear them with insoles and wells liners in the winter.

BikeRunSki · 23/08/2017 04:39

Dunlop here too. Wear them every work day. At least 5 years old. Apart from being muddy, they could be brand new.

Out2pasture · 23/08/2017 04:53

Bogs. tons of different neoprene and rubber options.

Le Chameau.
Mine are into their 8th year of horses, dogs and country walks.
Now my dd's have the same size feet as me, I end up with their crappy Dunlops as they bear me too them Hmm
I bought so Dublin River boots and although they are great, they make my feet too hot in summer months.

Another one to sing the praises of Le Chameau...totally worth the money !

Squashit · 23/08/2017 12:41

Dunlop -definitely. I have had mine for years.

Squashit · 23/08/2017 12:43

I have these and they are tall enough to protect yet a breeze to wang on and off.

Best Wellies

I went for a look today and tried on a pir of storm cloud wellies that look like traditional green wellies with yellow soles, a pair of dunlop blue wellies (they have them in pink too) and two pairs of Hunters.

The storm cloud and Dunlop were too short - they were calf length and I have realised that I want knee high. The Dunlop were light, but I felt that the sole was too thin.

I was happy with the height of the Hunters (I'm a short arse) and that is the height that I'm looking for, but I felt that I would be paying for the name. 60 quid more expensive than the other two with about 50 quid knocked off them in the sale.

So I don't know..... something with the height of the Hunter, the sole of the storm cloud and the lightness of the Dunlop! Grin

Have a look on mandmdirect they have discounted hunters

travailtotravel · 24/08/2017 18:46

I just got some Cotswolds- they seem we'll made for the price.

GaryBarlowsTaxReturn · 25/08/2017 09:52

Well I know they get slagged off here for being fashion wellies but I have hunters and they are great. About 8 years old and still look good despite a lot of use!

Onthehighseas · 25/08/2017 10:18

Hunters are not the quality they once were, but they have brought out the 'Norris' which is more of a proper durable welly than a fashion accessory. They are the only wellies that fit me (narrow feet and ankles) and are dead comfy. They have outlasted my previous pairs and I'm happy with them.

Floralnomad · 25/08/2017 10:23

I have both Aigles and Dublin river boots , the dublins are sooo comfortable I literally live in them in the winter , I have an old dirty pair for dog walking and a nice new clean pair for best .

Dlpdep · 25/08/2017 18:17

Love the Dublin riverboots so much, also the dubarry counterparts, but I don't think I could justify the price.

Aigle wellies are fantastic. Stylish, leak proof and very sturdy

If you honestly don't care about looks, then go for muckboots. They are the most comfortable wellies on the planet.

BubblesBuddy · 27/06/2018 22:15

You can find Hunter and Barbour wellies discounted if you don’t mind the slightly odd colours. They are great wellies. Also Agle and Le Chameau. All will last for years if you look after them.
