DD and her DP have just set date for their wedding
Starting looking at dresses - can anyone recommend bridal shops in the north west please?
I'm footing the bill and hoping we can find the dress of her dreams in my budget (max £1500)
I want her to feel fab in it - although I'm long since divorced from her DF it still upsets me that I settled for a 'will do' dress and don't want her to feel the same

Congratulations! My DD and her OH are getting married next summer so we are currently dress hunting too, have you got a Wed2B near you? We had a look in one last week and they had some lovely dresses in stock.

Ah how exciting! I got mine from the confetti box in Eccles! It's a Family run business and everyone there is absolutely lovely! They were actually at a stall st the national wedding show in Manchester, I picked my dress there and they offered 20% off if I ordered the dress there and then. Well worth it! My dress was a similar amount to your budget so the discount made a huge difference!

Good luck! Wedding dress shopping was my favourite part of the planning! Smile

Congrats to them both.
I'm not sure where in the north west you are. We are in Liverpool. I went to a bridal boutique called Dreams Bridal Boutique, and I could not recommend them more highly. Absolutely brilliant place from start to finish.
I had a 3 month engagement, and literally 2 months from my first appointment to my wedding date to get a dress. I knew exactly what I wanted: a pure white ballgown with a long train, zip up back, and sparkles without that 'silver' look, as my jewellery was all yellow gold, so o was concerned that heavy silver on the dress would clash. I knew I would also be 4 and a half months pregnant on my wedding day.
Of course I had to get a sample dress due to the time frame (which was fine). I only tried on 2 dresses), the 2nd one ironically I said I didn't like when I saw it on the website, but once I tried it on I knew it was the one, and when they had the same veil in white instead of Ivory, that was it, the sign it was meant for me (it was the only white ballgown they had in).
Naturally it would have been so much easier for the seamstress to put I corset back in with me being pregnant, then my final fitting could have been done slightly earlier, but I explained that I'd worn a corset back prom dress and felt so uncomfortable, and hated it. So I really really wanted to keep the zip back. And the fantastic in house seamstress did just that. My final fitting was less than a week before my wedding (the final fitting was the Saturday, the wedding was the following Thursday), which enabled me and her to keep the zip back. And the dress fitted perfectly on the day (you'd never know it wasn't a brand new dress). (I still say that seamstress made my wedding day, as I would have worn either my navy and white reception dress, or a pair of white jeans and a white top, if I had to have a corset back dress).
I could not speak more highly of them. Lovely ladies, and you get a Buck's Fizz when you get your dress. I love my husband and couldn't be happier, but I'd love to get married again, just so I could go back and try on dresses with them, and enjoy the process again.
Highly recommend them to anyone, anywhere.

Mine is currently on order from here- www.thecaseofthecuriousbride.com
It's a lovely place- really beautiful, modern dresses and approach, rather than the "Say Yes to the Dress" type naffery you get in lots of places. My dress was very slightly over your budget, but the one I very nearly bought instead was slightly under, so I'd guess most of them are in that ballpark.

Thank you for all your responses - it's lovely to hear your dress tales
DD and I are very excited as we love shopping anyway!
As I'm sure you can guess we are in Lancashire but easy access to both Liverpool and Manchester
DD is a size 6-8 petite 5 foot with an hourglass figure and is looking for something very fitted

Huge congratulations! Would you consider looking at wedding fairs? I randomly bought my dress from a wedding fair and it was practically half the price, well under the budget you have said l. Yes I had to buy that exact dress rather than the style being ordered for me and needed a few alterations but it was worth it! My dress was a Justin Alexander and when I looked in other shops it was selling for nearly double the price! It was a fitted fish tale style. If it is a wedding dress shop stand they should then let you come and try the dress on in the shop after the fair. Just a thought. Wish you lots of luck...I wish I could do it all over again!

Much nearer the time I'll probably be posting on here for MOB outfit help!
Need to keep up the weight loss plan though - lost 3.5 stone so far - aiming for another 3 which would get me down to an 8-10 hopefully

Could you get to Bolton? Glamour Bridal is a very good shop, the owner knows her stuff and loves her job.
