Should I keep or return this jacket?

It's actually more of a cardigan. To replace a couple of jersey blazers that are on their last legs. I can't decide if it's a bit mumsy. Try and ignore the weird styling on the site (same school of thought as Cos).

Link doesn't want to work. It's this one.

I don't like it. I especially don't like how they have styled in on the model with those awful jeans. Perhaps it would look better if styled differently?

But I think for the money you can do better

Summerlightening80 · 26/07/2017 12:18

But then again that kind of thing is just not my style at all. Perhaps you rock that look?!

MsHarry · 26/07/2017 12:20

I don't think it's mumsy. It depends on your style and what you wear it with. A blazer would be easier to work but if you love it, go for it.

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 26/07/2017 12:31

It would depend. For instance, what would you wear it with? Because it is quite busy pattern-wise it will reduce the amount of clothes it will go with. Have you enough in your wardrobe that won't clash to make this worth the money? Often I see something I like but think - well I only have one outfit that it will go with and so it's not worth the amount they are asking. I would say it's only an everyday coat if you own a lot of quite minimalist/plainer clothing.

Also, I now go with 'if I'm not sure and it's over a tenner, send it back'. I only buy things I am absolutely certain with as I have learned that the things I bought and am unsure about tend to sit in the wardrobe.

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 26/07/2017 12:33

PS I don't think it's mumsy, but again it's all down to the styling. With a red lip it could look chic.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 26/07/2017 12:34

Thanks. This is me in it and how I'd mostly wear it.

With heels and a statement necklace it could look quite Diane Lockheart.

namechange20050 · 26/07/2017 12:36

I think it looks quite nice.

MsHarry · 26/07/2017 12:36

I agree with chirpy I can see this looking good with an all black ensemble of black turtle neck, black slim leg capri pants with black loafers, a red lip, a neat pony tail or sharp bob or pixie cut. Does that sound like you?

tkband3 · 26/07/2017 12:36

I quite like it - particularly with the way you've styled it. It's the kind of thing I'd comment positively on if one of my friends wore it.

MsHarry · 26/07/2017 12:37

Just seen your pic, looks great.

MsHarry · 26/07/2017 12:38

I wouldn't pair it with shorts but looks good with skinny jeans.

SaltLiquorice · 26/07/2017 12:40

I think it looks nicer on you than on the model however I still don't like it. Too much going on and you'll get fed up of it so quickly and you'll be known as the woman with the zig-zag coat by your neighbours.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 26/07/2017 12:47

Thanks for all your opinions. I'll let you know what I decide. I suppose there are worse things to be known as than the zig-zag coat woman. Grin

Sorry I don't really like it anyway, but it looks really odd with the shorts.

Styled the way previous posters have said, over an all black outfit, would probably be the best way, but I don't think it's particularly stylish or cool in any way.

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 26/07/2017 12:53

I like how you wear it - particularly with the jeans. I quite like a statement jacket, specially in winter when it's just a sea of plain black and grey.

Yes let us know!

SaltLiquorice · 26/07/2017 17:12

What HAVE you got on your toes OP. I can't work it out.

JanetStWalker · 26/07/2017 18:22

Looks tons better on you than the model so on that basis, keep it.

notasgreenasiamcabbagelooking · 26/07/2017 20:04

I took it back and got this instead because, as people mentioned, the pattern meant I was a bit limited to what I could wear it with.

And saltliquorice I've got those spongy toe divider things between my toes because I was doing my nails!

Glad you returned it. I was going to say that it looks like something I saw Clint Eastwood wear - he styled it with a cowboy hat and cigar! Grin

chirpyburbycheapsheep · 26/07/2017 22:29

I like what you have got instead. It's also an easier length I think for matching with other clothing.

I prefer that op. The style/shape is easier to wear.

Nettletheelf · 27/07/2017 15:39

Thank god you took the blankety coat back. You did well with the styling, but it screamed "I'm just off to my pottery class via Holland and Barrett".

WhataHexIgotinto · 27/07/2017 18:17

"I'm just off to my pottery class via Holland and Barrett".

Ha ha ha ha ha ha! Sorry OP but this really made me laugh. And I actually really like both of the coats.
