High waisted trousers for curves?

Argh. I'm a size 14-16. big bum/ thighs, slightly smaller waist. NOTHING fits. too tight on the arse or gale at the back. Need elasticated waistband so they don't gape at the back. Fabric can't be too thin, that is NOT flattering over my cellulite... I like 'peg' trouser shape - slightly tapered leg. neutral colour - navy/ black/ khaki. Any ideas? it's the bane of my bloody life.

*GAPE at the back, that is!

Super high waisted skinny jeans in primark are fantastic. Smile I tend to find that high waisted just are not comfortable enough. These jeans are stretchy btw and cover cellulite well.

I'm slightly smaller size-wise than you, but have the same issue in terms of waist vs hip/thigh ratio. The paper-bag trousers that are in at the moment solve the issue rather nicely. I got a few nice pairs in Mango for summer, and, while not quite the same, they do have similar for autumn.

Also, I'm 5'2" and the slightly cropped trouser length in the first link actually fall to just below my ankle.

dark green/black

khaki

Sorry to clarify, I have Jeans -yes super high waisted ones :) it's trousers I'm struggling with, jeans are usually stretchier so they are easier.

Kimber I'm not a fan of bootcut, I like my shape, never said I wanted to disguise my hips or 'make them appear narrower'... I just want trousers to fit properly around the waist. Agree about fabric with a stretch though, that would be nice.... trousers usually have no give.

Marking place as this is what I want too. Bootcuts don't work for me as I want something that will work with flats or heels - tapered legs are best for that for me. Cos have a tapered trouser with elastic in the waist but of course more or less sold out now in the sale. Paper bag waist not great for me as I am a bit shorter than average & that style has too much going on in my midriff area.

I'm exactly the same shape (with a waist:hip ratio of 0.6). I got a great pair of black tapered high waisted trousers with an elasticated waist which actually looked smart in Uniqlo late last year- have worn them a lot. Also got a pair with paper bag waist in Dunnes stores not too long ago. Also not what you are looking for but found fantastic culottes in uniqlo- with partially elasticated waist, which glide nicely over my bum/thighs.

Take a look at these?

I take really good care of a perfect trouser, they are so hard to find! I also have found someone who will do alterations at a reasonable price locally!

I know it sounds mad but for Trousers (not jeans) I actualy sometimes buy them from the maternity section in shops as they are usally better fitting and are elasticated on the waist. Smile

Buy to fit your hips and bum then have the waist band taken in?
I used to be a personal shopper and this was a really common alteration we used to get done.

FlorenceLyons · 25/07/2017 16:12

I'm a similar shape. For some reason I generally find wide leg trousers have a much better waist/hip ratio, which works for me.

I found some black, narrow, slightly stretchy trousers in Laura Ashley (not somewhere I usually think to look) a few months ago, though.

Lotsofsausage · 25/07/2017 20:05

Thanks all - I'll look into all of them! even the culottes :)

Warehouse and Zara are both great for this, their waist measurement is normally a good 10-11 inches smaller than the hips.

Perfect for hourglass.

I bought some tapered peg high waisted trousers from topshop which may fit the bill. I think I they are called mannish trousers
