Greasy but ageing!

Can anyone help? I'm using a matte base, which I have got on with well until now. It's suddenly making me look old and haggard. But the problem is I'm still kind of greasy and sweaty so dewier bases slip, and I need good coverage because of melasma and dark circles. I'm nearly 40 so I'm wondering whether i need to just have a rethink. My hair suddenly doesn't suit me either. I seem to have aged overnight. Any ideas? Thanks for reading.

You've just described me exactly so watching with interest!!

I'm similar and like Revlon Colorstay - good for oily skin but not too matte.

Thanks I'll have a look at that revlon one.

Have you tried primer? I had the same problem but started using Smashbox primer a few years ago , changed my life! Foundation stays on, it helps with mattifying and my makeup looks the same at the end of the night as when I put it on. A total gamechanger, would never not use it.

Yeah primers do help a lot, but because of the melasma I am so careful with the proper spf, that my skin is already loaded with spf cream aswell as serum before foundation. I use primer in the evening if I'm going out cos obviously there's no sun, but in the summer I feel I ought to prioritise the spf.

Although I did buy a spf facial spray the other day actually, so maybe that means I could use primer and still be protected. Hmm need to research how effective the spray is.

Have you tried IT Cosmetics CC+ cream? I usually buy mine in the US but they just started selling it at Selfridges and QVC also sell it.

It's anti-ageing, provides some serious coverage and also has SPF 50. (I have ageing, but greasy skin, as well as being sensitive with some acne scarring - nightmare to find a decent base!)

Ooh that looks good hundred I've never heard of that company before. There's a selfridges near me so I'm going to see if I can get a sample, thanks.

madmomma You'll love it! An American (beauty obsessed) friend introduced IT Cosmetics to me. They're amazing. Great quality although I think the packaging makes them look a bit cheap. The CC+ cream is amazing. I won't use anything else now. Really hope you like it!

I'm intrigued!
