Help - shoes with this dress...

So I'm wearing this dress to a wedding in Greece next month, and I'm completely stuck on what colour shoes to buy! I've asked around for opinions and so far have been told: nude to calm it down, gold to jazz it up, black to contrast, bright blue to contrast, and brown because I'll have a tan by the time of the wedding. Confused
Please help?!

If it makes any difference, I'm thinking of buying some ribbon in the same colour as whatever shoes I get, to add a third strip between boobs to cover bra strap, and to go around the hem (it's not really hemmed at all and looks a bit cheap).

I'm looking for fairly high heels, definitely sandals because it'll be boiling.

If anyone has any ideas on which colour to look for, or even any particular shoes you've seen, that would be amazing!

I can't work out whether that is a burnt orange or normal orange. Colour wise loads go with it. Sky blue, tan, white, gold.

I would take the dress out with you and try different styles and colours. Personally I would go with minimal strapped heeled sandals.

burnishedsilver · 23/06/2017 14:47

Silver.

allthebestplease · 23/06/2017 14:52

I'd do gold. Beautiful dress. Or a multicoloured orange shoe.

I think something pale but maybe with a different colour heel. Can't go wrong with silver either

Madonna9 · 23/06/2017 15:05

I agree with jeaux90. Take the dress with you and see what works best.
Dress looks beautiful on you by the way.

DragonNoodleCake · 23/06/2017 15:15

I vote gold

SleepFreeZone · 23/06/2017 15:20

I Think a gladiator sandal would look lovely.

skippy67 · 23/06/2017 15:56

I saw that dress in H&M yesterday. Lovely.

Refilona · 23/06/2017 16:03

I'd definitely go for some really chunky cool silver ones. Statement ones! Think Alexa Chung. It'll look really cool and you've got the figure for it.

rightwhine · 23/06/2017 16:05

i think silver but if you want to add ribbon that may be difficult. Black could contrast nicely if not.

milkysmum · 23/06/2017 16:07

I woukd go with gold I think

TheBeaconsAreLit · 23/06/2017 16:43

Thanks all, I think this is my issue - there are so many options!

jeaux90 taking the dress into town is a good idea, I'd not thought of that. It's more of an orangey-yellow - from H&M

I'd been thinking I'd probably go for tan sandals, but I'm now wondering if it wouldn't look wedding-y enough? I think the colour would look good, here's an example I found if I could just find that exact dress and shoes combo I'd be sorted

Silver or gold seem to be winning at the moment, I'll have a look around!
rightwhine I went out at lunch and bought some ribbon in the same colour as the dress instead, so it'll neaten the hem up but won't stand out Smile

Make sure you post back with an update on the shoes Grin

HolgerDanske · 23/06/2017 23:30

I think a contrasting colour would be much nicer and more interesting. Purple, maybe. Or a teal, or the right shade of blue. Pink? Tan seems a bit, uh, pedestrian? But it's really hard to say without knowing the exact shade of yellow/orange, and also the colour of your bag.

junglebookisthebest · 23/06/2017 23:53

I would go with either silver or a bright blue.

GingerLDN · 24/06/2017 01:19

Gold strappy ones

TerfwithaNerf · 24/06/2017 01:24

Farking hell OP you look amazing in that dress 😍.

I don't think contrasting coloured shoes would work. The colour of the dress is so unusual it's the focal point of the outfit imo.

I'd go for a muted warm metallic, preferably bronze-y. Or a really nice tan leather sandal with a wooden or cork heel that has a slight 70's vibe.

Definitely not black (too stark) or silver (too cool toned and the unflattering opposite of the dress).

jeaux90 · 24/06/2017 06:58

I'm with you terf I think gold but if she takes the dress into town then she can see what works. I agree she looks amazing in the dress. Perfect for a wedding in Greece.

Intransige · 24/06/2017 07:08

I think tan / nude with that colour looks good.

Or you could go with a contrasting colour like turquoise?

Tan

SloeGinRocks · 24/06/2017 07:27

Metallic or neutral nude / tan leather. Great dress Grin

dontpokethebear · 24/06/2017 07:36

I'd definitely go metallic. Pewter maybe?

If you ribbon hem the dress, you'll lose the lovely soft pleats and will make the bottom too heavy.
