What have been your best and worst buys from the sales so far and why?
Who do you think have the best selection?
I've been enjoying browsing but finding 30/40% off still on the expensive side for high-end high street.
I'm considering some self portrait dresses as the quality is excellent imo and some shoes from lk bennett. What am I missing!?

I bought a dress from GAP in the sale that looks very unassuming on the website but is one of those perfect dress up/dress down items so I will wear it all summer.

It's also a great colour that really suits me.

Everything else has been a bit meh though.

I'm 9 months pregnant so not much joy to be had from shopping, but I got these gold Sam Edelman boots for £34 which I'm pleased with!

It's this one. It washes really well too.

I got these totally awesome jaguar capris when they had 30% off a couple of weeks ago but now they are half price. Would have happily paid full price for them though so quite happy.

Got this Jigsaw kimono dress today and both the size 12 and 10 were too big on me (I'm usually a 12, the 10 had about 6 spare inches round the hips) so have now ordered an 8 and 6. I know it's suppose to be loose and has no give in the material so will need to have some slack but that's a bit crazy. Not least because they are claiming the model is wearing a size 10 which I doubt because she has less spare fabric round her hips than I do and I doubt she's a 14. We'll see, might try on the right size and decide it's still too long for me since I'm a shortarse.

Otherwise I've missed out on the shoes I wanted from Boden, and I'm just waiting for my delivery from Cos and <a class="break-all" href="http://www.laredoute.co.uk/ppdp/prod-350049955.aspx?kaPt=affiliatewindow&kaTckM=pcwr&kaPcId=58244&kaAcId=222&kaTckId=234391&kaPgmId=1496&kaAdPtId=0&kaRdt=www.laredoute.co.uk/&omniturecode=Affliates-234391&utm_source=Affiliate%2BWindow&utm_medium=Affiliates&utm_campaign=234391#searchkeyword=R" rel="nofollow noindex" target="_blank">La Redoute.

I thought 'jaguar capris' was auto-corrected 'jaeger capris' but no, they really are jaguar! They look fab.

I have done my usual sweep of the nice Italian labels from House of Fraser. This frock from my beloved Sportmax Code, who always make nice, chic cotton dresses:

www.houseoffraser.co.uk/women/sportmax-code-pinna-sleeveless-lace-hem-dress/d740551.pd#256124448

And this coat from Marella (the mother lode of good coats, in my view)

House of Fraser are great for this stuff. They don't stock the fancy Italian labels in my local store but you can always find them online with good reductions at sale time.

I say take the plunge and get a Self Portrait dress, OP. There are copies everywhere but they don't look as good as the real thing because the material isn't as good. Twisty lace that won't lie flat, etc.

v. Nice, I have some Sam Edelman boots the same style from 2 years ago and they have worn very well.

That looks like a lovely dress, really nice material and easy shape to wear

A lovely timeless choice, what was your previous purse? I remember working at a coffee kiosk in a train station when I was younger and someone had a hermes purse and it looked so expensive, it well worth paying lots for one.
I went shopping this afternoon but came back with clothes and wellington boots for DD and DS and shoes for DH. I was too scared of impulse buying for myself incase I regretted it

This - I had bought it pre sale but didn't wear it so I returned it and bought it half price instead!
www.jigsaw-online.com/product/silk-overlay-v-neck-dress/J32372_BL129?gclid=CKuHzr3d2dQCFUy37QodqVACfw

It falls beautifully and I love that it covers the upper arms so no need to worry about wearing anything over it.
It comes up small by the way, I'm usually a 12 but had to side down to an S for this dress.

CountFosco · 25/06/2017 21:25

Jigsaw's silk dresses are the way to go in the sales aren't they, some real bargains! I eventually bought the size 6 in my kimono dress and still have plenty of room for my hands in the pockets Hmm. Fuck knows what someone who is an actual size 6 would wear.

My La Redoute dress went back, decided I couldn't cope with a black summer dress so got a cheap t-shirt dress from Next in petrol blue (not in the sale) instead. Just waiting for my COS parcel now...

MovingOnUpMovingOnOut · 26/06/2017 16:08

The Jigsaw dresses are lovely. I do have a big event coming up... don't really need A dress but...

30 weeks pregnant so not a huge amount! Although I bought this lovely linen dress in the Toast sale that skims over my bump and has buttons at the top so should hopefully work well with breastfeeding.
Also bought a replacement Storksak changing bag after my beloved leather tan Elizabeth fell apart after daily abuse for three years. I have never seen these reduced by more than 10% or so, and to find it half price in John Lewis made me do a little happy dance inside! changing bag
I also picked up an ex-display mini sewing machine for my DD (pink, match, but only £35), who will turn 9 in a few weeks, and a lovely half price wool throw for £44 as a housewarming gift for my best friend who has had an offer accepted on their first home after renting for many years with 3 kids!

V happy to act as personal shopper to anyone who needs me to have a good rummage on their behalf. That would actually be my ideal job.
