I have hair like a bunch of dried out sticks

Can anyone help me?

I do the curly girl method, although have very fine hair so I condition every day. It looks even more of a mess if I don´t. I have tried silicone free hair masks but haven´t found a good one. I am loathe to waste any more money.

I have tried adding coconut oil to my conditioner which did nothing. I tried putting some normal conditioner on while still towel dried and leaving it there, which made it all flat and matted after the first 30 minutes or so. I have tried adding olive oil to my normal conditioner and using as an intensive treatment. This looked really nice until I put styling product on it (mousse). I need the styling product to keep the curl in, otherwise it drags out.

I live in a very hot country and it seems to have got worse since summer started although I am not out in hte sun much as I am a redhead. Could this be it?

Any more ideas would be gratefully received. I do need silicone free ideas. With silicones my hair looks nice for a couple of days and then drags out.

After washing hair, put a splash of baby oil in a bucket of warm water then lean over and put your head in. Rinse in that same water, then leave to dry???

When mine did this, as a result of using wretched Elvive 'mirror shine' shampoo, I used a clarifying shampoo for a few days then put a silicone-free hair mask on. Worked brilliantly.

I think that the surfeit of silicone from the bloody Elvive made my hair go manky. It felt like dolls' hair.

Nettle - may I ask what hair mask you used?

Burnished - I am tempted but I think it has silicones (amodimethicone listed in ingredients) so would probably only look good for a short while on me.

Yes. It was a Theorie one from TK Maxx. Other hair masks are available (I've used Kerastase Oleo Relax in the past, and that is great too).

Do you leave lots of conditioner in your hair? I leave loads in mine otherwise I end up with really dry hair.

This worked well for me: www.loreal-paris.co.uk/products/hair-care/brand/elvive-low-shampoo. I found a real difference with this. Feels similar to co wash. I have curly hair that dries with normal shampoo and conditioner. Probably because I straighten it once a week.

With oils i usually use them directly on hair and leave it overnight with a shower cap on and wash the next day.

Thanks coffee cake I have tried that one but it didn't do much for me . Thanks for the shower cap tip. I will try that once the heatwave where I am is over. I can't really bear even my pants at the moment!

Jenny - I can't leave loads on or it matts. My hair is very fine. I can't use more than a little bit.

Olivander I have. My hair snapped instantly. I think it's definitely moisturise not protein. Also because coconut oil didn't do much.

Yeah coconut mimics protein which suggests you're right. I'm similar, currently using lots of Shea moisture Shea butter conditioner and their low porosity one

I am using olaplex as my hair is really dry due to bleach damage. It's actually working. My hair is starting to feel much less dry and is growing properly without breaking off

I like the Joico leave in moisturising spray. Moisture recovery leave in conditioner. Don't know if it is 'cone free though. I have straw hair too.

I use this on my dd hers is auburn colour curly frizzy and is brilliant.
It's sulphate free and they do a matching conditioner.
I generally only wash twice a week and just wet and style inbetween with boots basic curl cream it's less than a pound!!

Olaplex is the answer. Don't buy a copycat, get the real thing, as it is patented technology.

If your hair is snapping, it's because the keratin bonds in the hair are weak. Completely different to both protein and moisture. Olaplex rebuilds the bonds by forming covalent bridges between free bond ends.

You should use it weekly for best results, and can leave it on overnight.

Have to say I think most hair treatments are bollocks...your hair is dead apart from the very roots..the best " treatments" are ones that just coat your hair well.Ive learnt the hard and expensive way! Diet and avoiding heat are the better solutions
