Cheap but good primer- recommendations please

I am currently using a pur primer, the only one I've tried!
I like it but if I could find a cheaper one than would be great.
My skin is quite dry if that makes a difference.
Any recommendations? Thanks

I have dry skin too and I like No 7 Skin Illuminator. It gives a nice glow to your skin. Costs £12.50, lasts ages

That's great, thanks lottapianos

I have dry skin and really like the Soap and Glory one. Don't be put off by the word matte in the name, it's not drying at all.

I've heard good things on here about the Wilkos essence one- at £2.50ish is worth a try!

Primark also meant to have good one

Love Sleek stay matte, I think it's about £5.99. Tend to get two or three at a time because it sells out quite often.

Recently converted to The Ordinary's silicone primer, about £4.50 from Asos.

The Ordinary is amazing and really cheap. They sell on ASOS. 2 different primers in their range.

I use this one

LOVE this from ASOS!

One of the best I have used. And I work in the high end cosmetics and skin care industry.

Unexpected, what skin type do you have?

All the YouTube bloggers swear by nivia men's sensitive post shaving balm for dry skin it's amazing I was so worried it wouldn't work but for 4 pounds a giant bottle it's the best thing I have ever tried my skin is no longer dry and patchy and it's amazing I could go on all day about it

Lotta I have dry right now but can get oily on long days. If you are dryer I'd go for the other primer they do below.

LOVE this from ASOS!

Both are amazing. In fact their whole range is getting amazing reviews in the beauty community right now!

I work in wilko. The essence prima is VERY popular. I've never tried it though. I will be doing when mine runs out. The whole essence range is fab though I use it a lot

@Busybee233. My dd uses that. She loves it. It smells a bit manly for me though

Another for the Nivea shave balm! It's so good!

The wilkos one isn't by essence; its in a pink tube and is fabulous as far as primer is concerned. It contains Bilbao extract. And it is getting harder to find!!!

My skin is on the dry side, I love GOSH primer, the illuminating one makes skin look amazing and it's not expensive

Report
PaperdollCartoon · 05/06/2017 23:21

I should say almost all my make up is high end (Charlotte Tilbury, Hourglass) nothing beats the GOSH primer

What kind of foundation do you use op? If your foundation is water based don't buy silicone based primers.

Wow thanks for all the replies! Loads to try out.
I use L'Oréal true match and the powder, does that affect which primer I should try?

A slightly left field one... Lanacane anti-chafe cream!
The stuff you buy to stop chub rub...
www.boots.com/lanacane-anti-chafing-gel-30g-10071974

It really works and you only have to use a tiny dab of it...

I've just got the boots time delay one for a fiver. It's great. My skin feel and looks fab and it helps my foundation no end.

Shelvesoutofbooks · 06/06/2017 22:36

True match is silicone based so get a silicone based primer with it. It'll make your foundation last longer and less patchier, but keep in mind silicone primers and foundation tend to stop skin from breathing so it might cause breakouts

I think I'll try the ordinary silicone primer then, thanks everyone x
