Going to my first ever festival in a few weeks is this okay? I'm utterly clueless! What is everyone else wearing to festivals this summer?

Unless the festival is on a beach I wouldn't wear that dress to one. It does look like a beach cover up, sorry.

Denim shorts and welly boots seem to have been standard festival wear forever. It will most likely be muddy/rain at some point.

What festival is it?

Things to consider from a seasoned festival goer -

Changeable weather and potential mud! You need to be prepared for sun/rain/warm/cold and possibly all of these things in one day. Take a light raincoat you can fold into you bag.

Going to the loo in little portable loos. Depending on the festival these may not have roofs. If it's muddy the floor of the toilet could be fully of mud. I have worn playsuits at festivals but do consider the implications of having to take your whole outfit down to pee in these toilet situations.

Beach or festival??? Grin

Something to keep you warm. Something to keep you dry. Layers. Think camping.

What festival is it? Some will be more challenging than others.

If it's Glastonbury then youll want stuff that you won't care it gets wrecked.

Denim shorts, knee socks, wellies, nice top, army style jacket but make sure you have a proper waterproof too. Stuff that's easy to use the loo in. The loos are GRIM at all festivals.

Festival make up, glitter, gems.

It's in Cambridge so only a small local one! It's a playsuit btw!

It would be okay for daytime on a really sunny day, with wellies. You look great!

Also not staying overnight either it's just for the day

You need to make sure you have all your clothing needs covered for all weather.

It gets cold, it will rain, it gets hot, you need sunscreen, waterproofs, something to sit on. Pack light, wear things you can take on/off.

Even for one day my playsuit comment above stands! What if it's suddenly cold or raining as well? We can't rely on the weather here.

Wear it, take tights in case it gets cold, and a jacket.

Playsuots ar a fucker to wee in. The loos will be dirty.

In that case it's grand as long as the weather isn't rubbish, don't make yourself miserable. If you're only going for a day you might mind getting cold and wet less though.

Thanks it's only a small local day time festival up the road from me so didn't want to be turning up with half my wardrobe 😅 think I'll wear some old trainers or wellies though just incase

I don't like off the shoulder stuff, looks weird.

You might be a bit overdressed. Have a look at cochella for some inspo. It's all little shorts, peasant tops and little boots.

I wish I could find a cute pair of denim shorts that look nice on me despite trying 100 pairs on I don't think they are for me sadly! Otherwise I would deff be wearing them

Yeah denim shorts are really hard to get right. They make me look like a bosun. I think the playsuit looks great on you and I'd wear it to a festival for the day (if I had your tan). I love playsuits.

Same here I find them comfy and more flattering than a dress as I don't feel so exposed especially if it's windy! What kind of bag is best to bring, an across body bag?

If it's England that outfit on its own is a bit optimistic. There's a choice between looking like an Instagram model or being comfortable. Having been soaked through at my fair share of festivals I'd go for comfortable every time! Wellies, good socks, denim shorts and a good waterproof coat. You could still wear that dress, I'd just style it with the shorts and wellies and 9times out of 10 a bloody rain mac.

Yeah definitely, ideally a small one that you can have at your hip so you can keep an eye on it.

Oh my I've just read it's a play suit. You don't want to be wearing anything that delays you in a festival toilet, they're the rankest thing ever.

Hmm, looks really impractical to me. My festi wardrobe consists of denim shorts (not short shorts - mid-thigh/above the knee ones - you can always roll them up), an assortment of funky/vintage vests/tops, comfy sandals you don't mind chucking afterwards (!) and wellies just incase. And a little hoody if it gets chilly/showery. You could substitute trainers or Converse-type jobbies for sandals if you're worried about the manky loos.
