Where are you actually buying summer clothes?

For the first time in years I have money to spend (yay for getting back to work!)

So now I want to buy more summer clothes I am properly stuck. I tried on so much yesterday on a much anticipated shopping trip, but nothing fitted or looked right.

Where are you shopping and what lovely things have you found?

I've got no real style mum? is that a style and I work from home so I tend towards very casual.

Please inspire me! 😊

What sort of things do you want?

I tend to snap up cotton sundresses on the rare occasions I can find them. Sainsburys had a couple of nice ones last summer. Warehouse sometimes have a few. Maybe a chambray shirt dress? Haven't found a nice one yet, but live in hope!

Have also just bought some denim shorts - am older and fatter than I've ever been (a big size 12 and in my 40s) but decided to go for it anyway, as nobody will really care. Will wear them with loose cotton t-shirts and either trainers or sandals.

I tend not to buy huge amounts of summer clothes as the weather can be so variable and they might not get worn - I invest far more in my winter wardrobe. So far I've bought a lovely black midi-skirt (with pockets!) using the Whistles 20% off code, some t-shirts from Whistles, Jigsaw and Topshop, a midi dress with 3/4 sleeves from ASOS, and wide-legged cropped trousers (black from Warehouse and Topshop, bright red from Miss Selfridge). I have dresses - midi length - from last year that I'll wear again, and Saltwater sandals. My "style uniform" in spring/summer tends to be midi-dress or skirt and trainers, but I am really, really liking the cropped trew look this year.

I've bought:
Some lightly pleated and tapered ankle length cotton trousers from the UniqIo U range and H&M. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea but I've always loved that man-ish shape.
A long sleeved broderie cotton shirt in khaki from H&M. Also like the H&M cotton l/s wrap shirts but only seen in pale blue or white which don't suit me.
Linen jumper from TK Maxx.
Four second hand silk shirts, slightly oversize for a loose fit, from charity and vintage shops.
Tan brogues from Clarks (replacement).
Got my eye on things in Cos, Toast and Me & Em but waiting for sales to begin

Just remembered that I've bought a broderie cotton maxi skirt (supposed to be midi, but it's maxi on me) to wear with a vest and denim jacket on cooler summer days.

They stock clothes from high street stores like River Island and Oasis, but the return policy is so reliable and easy. The ASOS own brand clothes are great value and if you use the filters effectively can often find just what you're looking for.
Their £9.99 next day delivery for a year offer has been really useful.

I found a really cute Mickey Mouse shirt, some peach colored shorts and some Jean shorts at Primark. I also found a pair of jean shorts with elastic at Sainsburys in the kids section. I found a black shirt dress with white writing and a pair of new jeans from TK Maxx as well.

I've had some of my holiday clothes for over 14 years but this year have bought a whole new wardrobe full!

Pleated skirts from H and M, a couple of dresses from Superdry, loads of new vest tops and some tapered trousers from Next. I'm 42 and for holiday clothes tend to shop anywhere. My work wardrobe comes from Hobbs etc but for holiday anything goes. However my best bargains were some shorts from a local charity shop for pennies which look great.

I've also bought new bangles and three chunky necklaces to accessorise everything.

Oh and a couple of new pairs of decent sandals/flip flops as well.

Struggling with this too. Looking for some nice summery sundresses that I could get away with in the office. Have bought a few nice tops from H&M recently.

A chambray shirt dress would be lush but I have big shoulders so it might be a challenge....

So my list could include
slightly stretchy cropped chinos
Dresses - casual, t shirt material - essentially a grown up version of the £2.99 dresses H&M do for little girls! 😬
Few more tshirts - loose and will try and avoid stripes as in a stripe-addict!
Couple of slim fitting vests, not spaghetti straps tho, bit thicker so can wear normal bra with them

Also need new bras and some shorts pjs

I had a look a look at hush (normally too expensive to bother) but quite like the style of their summer stuff.

Might need a voucher code, hard to get out of the 'I'm skint' mind set after finally getting back to work!

Uniqlo' T shirt dresses well worth a look and so cheap. If you fancy this year's florals then Oasis and Warehouse are worth a look - I've seen a bunch of nice stuff in there.

I live in France and we are lucky to still have quite a few decent brands over here offering good value for money clothes in mainly natural fibres.

A couple of weeks ago I went to the outlet village in Roubaix (less than an hour from Calais if anyone fancies a day trip) and picked up quite a lot in:

Comptoir des Cotonniers
Caroll

I've also bought 3 pairs of trousers from CopCopine and a couple of dresses from Gerard Darel (all in the sale).

OP, you can actually get those for yourself. I bought a size 15-16y tshirt dress from H&M last year, it's Euro size 170cm and fits me well (usually buy size 10 in dresses).

I have an 80s cotton dress with a huge pineapple and a cocktail applique on it that I got in a vintage shop.
Although I appreciate that's not to everyone's taste I think it's awesome.
And I have silver gladiator sandals and a denim jacket. I also have a beach bag from t k Maxx.
My sunglasses were free in a magazine years ago.

Would you say that Caroll sizing comes up large? Do you normally size down?
I am buying online and don't find the size guide on their website very useful as it doesn't make any reference to hip measurements.

I'm a UK size 12 and don't know whether to buy 38 or 40 in Caroll.
