Has anyone found an alternative to Topshop Baxters ?

These were my go to jeans for years but all my pairs now have holes in the knees and since they have changed the cut I have not really found an alternative that I like as much. I am short (5'1") so these really worked for me anyone found good equivalents? I have a couple of pairs of next high waist enhancers that I have liked but they don't do these anymore either judging by website.

Ahhh, all nostalgic now Sad

I've moved on to Next 360s and they're very skinny without being leggings, but they don't go baggy.

The old baxters, like my first pair in 2009 had a higher cotton to polyester/elastane ratio.
So perhaps search for a relaxed skinny (tapered not straight - the new baxters are straight in my opinion) with 100% cotton or at least 99% cotton.

I bought a new pair last summer and they fit like a sack. After five mins wearing them they need shrinking!

Why do retailers fuck about with their jeans?!??

Sorry I know that's unhelpful but this irritates me so much.

I've got some Marthas that are about 10 years old now. I only wear them on very special occasions as they've nearly had it but by goodness they've had some wear.

They don't make em like they used to

Thanks all will look at River Island. I have some Next 360's but they are skinnier than I want and are no good on me with shorter tops as I don't like the flat front with no pockets.

Grrrrr why does buying a basic staple in your wardrobe have to be so hard !!!! Jeans buying fills me with dread Confused

Watching for ideas, exactly the same problem. Stupid TopShop. I want real denim jeans not these super stretchy things that are thin and don't keep their shape.

Loved Baxters and Marthas Sad

I do quite like Superdry slim fit (not skinny) but they could do with a bit less stretch in them.

Have you tried Levi's? Annoying that they are more expensive, but I used to love Baxters too and Levi's are the only place I have found recently that do 'real' feeling denim.

I like the slim leg cut, but they may be too straight for what you want (although the original Baxters I think were straighter than what oils be called skinny now); skinny is skinner (obviously!) but not jegging like.

Oils?? Would!

I bought some Levi's recently and am very disappointed. My fault completely, they are way too stretchy and sag after a few mins of wearing (even straight after a wash). They're not like old-fashioned Levi's at all.

They are the "slimming straight" style. They looked great when I tried them on but the stretch means they are far too baggy. I should have gone for the next waist size down but I think, even then, they would have gone too big.

Really annoyed with myself as the fit on Sainsbury's £14 jeans is much better for a fraction of the price!

Best jeans I have had were Levi 501 in the 80s and 90s ! Proper demin , no saggy stretch ! Some good vintage ones on eBay , they are graded A and B , A being in best condition ! Good range of colours and sizes , I got 2 fab pairs for £23 each , ( I got 33 waist which is about a large 12( my old 90s were a size 28 :(( i turned then into a hand bag !!! )

I also got some Levi's on eBay. As the ones I'd bought were a 30 waist and too big, I got W28 L32. Big mistake! They are fricking tiny and more a 31 length so would have been too short anyway Sad Could have worn them rolled up a bit, I suppose, but know I have no idea what size to go for... so back to Sainsbury's, although their bloody sizes differ between colours, it seems. Size 10 in black was fine, size 10 in dark blue is inexplicably just too tight to be comfortable. Have a couple of size 12s as well for those bloated days!

Ok after a morning at my local shopping centre I have come home with a pair of Superdry Imogen jeans, which I think is as close as I am going to get for me. They are a tiny bit stretchy and not a heavy denim which was really what I wanted but hey ho . I tried them on several times because I always fall foul of the looking great in changing room and then getting home and thinking WTF was I thinking.

For those of you ( most of you!) who are average height ( I am only 5'1") I also tried a pair of Oasis Cherry jeans which I really liked but they were way too long on me , but they were so nice I almost considered having them altered- the black ones in particular were proper black denim

Ironically a lovely lady actually stopped me on my way home from school run this morning to ask me where my jeans were from !! I was wearing my Next high waist enhancers so had to tell her they didn't do them anymore etc etc blah blah blah. Good luck everyone in the quest for the perfect jeans !
