Best light foundation for middle-aged, dry skin

I stopped wearing powder and foundation about ten years ago as my skin was too dry (and getting dryer as I got older, no matter what creams I used or how much water I drank.) I don't like feeling too made up in any case. I'd been using a Boots 17 BB cream which was a great match for my skintone but I've noticed recently it seems to be sitting on top of my skin and lately I think I need more coverage than BB cream anyway. Can anyone recommend a cheapish (ideally under a tenner) foundation or CC cream which won't be too heavy or drying, and won't need powder on top? Also needs to be pretty pale (the palest shade of Boots 17 CC cream I tried was distinctly orange on me.)

The boujois cc cream is lovely so is the healthy mix serum foundation. Not sure if they will be light enough if you're very fair.

I'll check the testers out for those, thanks. Yes, peely wally Scottish skin here! Even the pale shades can be too orange or too pink.

You'll probably find health mix/health mix serum too orange. I do and the lightest Boots ones are fine.
One of the best ever foundations IMO is Maybelline dream satin liquid. It's fab.

I have dry-ish skin and Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum literally slides off my skin, so if you're super dry it might be perfect.

I currently love Two Faced Born this Way, which on me isn't drying or cakey at all. It's also not as full-coverage as it claims when applied using a wet sponge. They go really light, too. Unfortunately won't work on really cool toned complexions, I suppose, because they're very yellow. I've got neutral undertones and can only wear the supposedly 'pink' shade varieties. Great product, though.

@BossyBitch I've never heard of the second one - is it available on the high street or just online? Will have to investigate as I am pale but sallow so a yellow-toned pale foundation would be perfect for me.

I get mine at Selfridges. It's definitely a bit more pricey than high street but nowhere near the exorbitantly priced luxury segment. About £30 for a bottle, I think.

I really like the Bobbi Brown skin foundation. The shade porcelain is quite fair. Mac studio waterweight is also a nice light finish and the shade NW13 is fair.

For slightly cheaper alternatives No7 might be good. Their superlight foundation is lovely but the lightest shade is Calico and it's slightly too dark for me in the winter months (but I am v v pale so this may work for you). The lift and luminate foundation is also lovely (calico in this formula is definitely light enough for me).
