Swimsuit- help please!

Hi S&B,
Please please could you help me find a swimsuit? Going away with family in 4 weeks, I'm already going to be the fattest one in the group, I can't be falling out of my cossie all day. We're the only ones with little dc so will actually have to be in the water as opposed to lounging at the edge. Everything I've seen looks like either professional swimmer's kit, or some kind of strange sunbathing attire with holes cut in it! Plus, I'm skint. Had a next voucher, but nothing they have is suitable.
Here's my wish list:

1. must be under wired (34DD)
   
2. I'd like it pretty, bright or patterned
   
3. full suit not bikini, not too high leg
   
4. not too poserish sexy/ busty/ adorned with jewels
   

1. Straps not halter, or God forbid asymmetric as dc will be mauling me the whole time it's on.
2. Preferably high street as I'd like to try on and don't have enough cash to have too much tied up in online shopping/returns
3. Budget is probably £35 - £40 max but could maybe go a little higher.

Oh god. I'm not going to find one am I???

Have you looked at bravissimo? They're a bit more expensive but they're cut properly around the bust (much better than M&S for example IMO)

I've recently tried on 50 million swimsuits

This one was most flattering but I wasn't brave enough to pull off the red

The problem I found with 90% of them was the low scoop back just looks awful if you have any back fat! These two are not too low.

I booked a personal shopper in Debenhams just for a swimsuit last year. I ended up buying 3 because they were only £10 each and looked really good on me.

God I hadn't even considered my back fat! I've gone up a few cup size since breastfeeding and I've not had this issue before. Also everything seems to have this really tight 'tummy control' thing going on which means I need a bigger size. Does it seem to you like they don't intend people to actually swim in these, they are for lounging around looking glamourous in?

I'm a marks and spencer size 14/size 16 everywhere else and needed a size 18 swim suit. The tummy control thing was awful in some suits, the speedo ones particularly.

I would have been quite happy with a sporty one rather than a fashion one but even those seemed to have low scoop backs which looked awful. In the end I went for the navy one cause I'm mostly bobbing around the baby pool anyway. The whole process has inspired me to eat a little less cake.

I just bought me a lovely shorts based tankini from bravissimo.

Was £60 and photos on website font donit justice. Really flattering (navy/red/white one)

Can I just suggest you don't discount halter necks with a triangle style top? I am 32G/GG and find this works best for me and is pretty secure when swimming. It might increase your choice on the high street. Also sometimes a bra shelf is ok if the costume is high enough on the back. Tankinis work better for me because then I can size up on top.

Are you actually fat though? 34 doesn't sound large.
I find that swimsuits often make women look fatter than they are as your attention is on all the material.
I agree a tankini is good for dealing with different proportions and doesn't add bulk.

Boardshorts in a length you like - quick dry and keep the sun off. ( nothing underneath)

Tankini and a rash vest to go over the top, again to keep the sun off.

Two pieces means you don't need to get naked to go to the toilet.

To answer a PP, I'm not sure if I'm fat tbh- I'm a wobbly, untoned 12, pear shaped and with a post pregnancy belly. So while probably not "fat", definitely a swimming costume isn't my most flattering attire! Plus we're going away with dh's family and they're all slim and toned. They like to sit on the beach for ages and spend ages at the water's edge with the dc. I know I'm blowing it massively up out of proportion but the thought of doing this is really causing me major stress.
