How can I get shiny sleek hair?

My hair is coloured, I have tried various products but really struggling to get nice shiny hair? It's kind of a bit.... dull? I have a great hairdresser and a good cut so it isn't that. I need to use shampoo and conditioner that won't leave a build up but protects the colour? I must use a heat protector too. Any suggestions?? What have you found that works? I can't dry my hair like the hairdresser does on myself which doesn't help!

Olaplex in-salon treatment (steps 1 and 2) then step 3 weekly at home will sort your hair out completely - mine was looking a bit knackered and now it is in brilliant condition and literally gleams.
I also have to use good products because when I don't it really shows although lots of people do brilliantly with cheaper products so I think it depends on hair type. I usually use Kerastase or Philip Kingsley and rotate each wash.
Once a week I use Hairfix which is a non-foaming detoxifier - there are 3 steps to this but I only do the first one.
I only blow dry once my hair is 90% already dry and now use sectioning clips which have made a massive difference.I am sure you point the nozzle down the hairshaft to smooth the cuticle.
This all costs a fortune so I buy from Lookfantastic as there are all kinds of offers and freebies on there.

Can you not get that to do at home the olapex? Iv heard it mentioned on here before but my hairdresser is mobile and wouldn't want to go and pay into another? The condition is very good, no split ends so I definitely believe its products I'm going wrong with?

You can buy steps 1 and 2 on Amazon but I don't know if it is genuine. Hairdressers sell step three or there is currently a Groupon offer for about £22 for step three. It's not a conditioner - it rebuilds the bonds in your hair and repairs it. I do spend a lot on my hair since I got it lobbed in the new year but Olaplex has been a total game-changer for me. I have been colouring my hair for over 30 years but when my hairdresser did mine it felt like I had virgin hair. Nearly wept.
If your hairdresser is mobile she/he probably has a trade card with Sally's so could get some - do ask.

Ok will have a look. Can't find an amazing shampoo and conditioner anywhere. I use to use dumb blond shampoo and conditioner but they changed it and now my hair doesn't like it. There aren't many sample/travel size available to buy either which is annoying.

I am blonde/white and got Josh Wood Guardian of Colour in M& S last week. I went in for Philip Kingsley but this is currently on offer. I've used it twice because I do interchange but so far I like it a lot.
Dumb blonde did nowt for me either. Honestly, if Olaplex doesn't work (all three steps mind you ;) ) I'll bloody refund you myself!

Slap loads of conditioner on dry hair. Wrap in a towel.

Sleep.

Shampoo hair.

It'll be super glossy.

Sleep in conditioner?! My hair is greasy and have to wash it every day, the thought of sleeping in conditioner..... won't it be even more dank??

Don't apply conditioner up to your roots and scalp. Just apply to the ends and mid sections.

Zilphas love the name by the way, I have to disagree - conditioner will not sort out over-coloured/processed blonde hair as it only temporarily smoothes the cuticle and I think Purples hair needs more.
However, I am not a hairdresser or grooming guru... am but a lowly teacher who is trying to deflect start of new term by avidly ingesting S&B threads instead of doing actual work. I may become guilty of over-posting.

It wasn't me that suggested loads of conditioner I was just advising to avoid the roots as OP said she has greasy hair.

IT has always had variants of blonde and browns/reds in it. The dumb blond was fine for dark aswell? It was fine until they re branded and changed ingredients. Yes hold on I'll try to post a pic.....

I use Olaplex 1 + 2 at home. Done it twice now and about to repurchase. It truly is fantastic stuff.

I had Olaplex done a firtnight ago and it didn't make any difference at all! Yes hair felt soft and sleek just as I came out of the salon but next day was back to normal

Yep - definitely in need of Olaplex Purple. You look as if you have a lot of hair and it is quite course but obvs healthy? Please treat yourself even if you have to go to a different hairdresser for a one-off. Tis' cheating but we won't tell on you.
I do this awful thing where once a year I go to a really posh salon and get stuff done, I then go back to my normal hairdresser to do upkeep. I lie through my teeth about my niece who is a trainee hairdresser and wanting to practise. I feel bad even typing it but fictitious niece must appear genius... although I suspect hairdresser knows I am a big, fat deceitful liar.

Apparantly it is fine but I have a lot of it but it is feeling coarse even though hairdresser assures me condition is good. I believe her as I have no split ends it's just all the products seem to be causing the problem. Can you get small or sample size of the olaplex?

My old hairdresser gave me a not too great cut one time and when I came back the next time she was tutting and grimacing and asked me who the hell had cut it the last time! I lied and told her I went to a training college! I didn't have the heart to tell her it was her own handy work. I didn't go back after that though.

Prima really? Your hair must be either in great condition or your hairdresser used fake Olaplex. It did nothing for my friend but she has never coloured her hair and doesn't blow dry.
