I can't find one on my pesky phone!

I'm happy to start one here if there isn't one running.

I am intrigued as to what a 'princessing' thread involves. Please enlighten me.

Oh yay! Well, I'll start this one and if anyone notices another, maybe just mention it on here. Don't want to duplicate.

walking, the princessing threads started in the run up to the royal wedding in 2011. Let me find one and link:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/style_and_beauty/1156122-Project-Princess

"I have a theory that every year you should treat one wedding you're attending as though it were your own.

Not that you're the bride, or as important as the bride...that's not the idea. I mean that for many women your wedding day is the one day when you try to pull it all together to look and feel your best, best figure, best skin, best hair. You get the picture. So if you do this once a year...perhaps with less of the stress that goes along with preparing for your own wedding day...then you'll look and feel amazing.

Last year I gave birth to my first child, so getting my figure etc back on track before a wedding I attended some months later was a huge challenge. I think I succeeded pretty well - I felt great at the wedding, not like the frumpy mummy I thought I might turn up as!

So now we have the Royal Wedding to look forward to I think we have the perfect opportunity to set that as a collective project due date. 29 April.

If any of you are inclined to give this a go - I thought it might be fun to do this with other like minded (crazy?) women.

The way it would work is like this - anyone involved can add a preparation ritual to the list. Let's not make this expensive. Don't we all have a bunch of unused exfoliant, teeth whitening paste, cuticle creams, waxes and potions at our disposal in our medicine cabinet?

Get the idea? Anyone interested?"

Anyway, here is my plan:

  • No refined sugar
  • No alcohol
  • Yoga daily
  • Regular hair removal Blush
  • Continue to wash hair every other day, but only use shampoo twice per week. I normally use shampoo every time I wash it and I read this isn't great for my curly hair

Oh and probably should say, I have two holidays planned, (no weddings this year), which I am treating as my 'weddings'. The first is in July, the second in September.

Ooh good. I really need a kick up the backside to take a bit more care of myself so I can look and feel better.

As of yesterday, I'm cutting out wheat as I have had a few instances of really painful bloating, so am watching what I eat and cooking from scratch more, so should have the side effect of losing a few pounds.

So I'm going to:
Cut out wheat (ie cakes, breads, biscuits etc)
Put an intensive mask on my hair weekly
Shave legs at least weekly (lazy with this one because I am nearly always wearing trousers or thick tights!)
Use hand cream every night
Eye cream daily to try to improve those dark circles
No caffeine after 4pm (would like to cut it out entirely but can't quite break my Pepsi Max habit)

I have 2 weddings to attend in May (one on the 31st I will be very much on display, playing the violin as the bride walks down the aisle, so need as much help as I can get in the next 6 weeks!) No holiday booked yet, but a school friends weekend reunion at the end of October to look forward to as well.

I've heard lots of good things from friends who have cut out wheat sugarmice. Let us know how it goes Smile.

I'm just in the process of baking this^^ sugar free birthday cake for my DH. I suspect it's not all that much better for me than the sugary version, but it is a special occasion... It may also taste revolting! We'll see.

I'm definitely in! DD2 is 16 weeks old and I'm starting to get my mojo back.

I should know what I'm doing - under a different name I've run 3(4?) countdown to Christmas princess threads!

Need to sort out my list.

I'm in. I'm a few meetings into a process for a new job that's client facing plus I'm in a beach wedding this summer (not my own) so really need to up my game.

I already don't eat meat, dairy or eggs and not much sugar except in coffee, but will cut down on bread/processed carbs and eat more salads, because I actually like them. Want/need to lose a stone.
Get gel nails put on and keep them up - I am never going to stop biting and should accept this.
Cleanse properly every day instead of relying on wipes.
Buy and use an eye cream.
Restrict drinking on weeknights to two glasses max if out (after today as have an event) and no weekday drinking at home at all.
Go to the gym at least once a week and two runs at home.

I'm sure I can think of others!

Ok - my list - I'm keeping it simple

Log all food in my fitness pal (have lost a stone, another 1.5 at least to go)
No alcohol for 10 weeks
No coke during the week.
One coffee max a day
2L water a day
Exercise 4 times a week
Shower every day Blush
Change my clothes if baby throws up on them (I use wet wipes a lot Blush)
Keep using Lumea
Keep on top of eyebrows
Get hair done (baby is ebf and won't take a bottle - I'm too nervous to be out of the house for too long)
At least one thing that makes me feel better a week - first I have some 'footner' type thing i got in TK Maxx. Will do that tonight.

I'm in! I've done a few of the princessing threads over the years and it has really helped me get into a good routine.

Things I'm good at:
Cleanse and moisture twice a day
Haircut every 6 weeks
Eyebrow wax every 6 weeks

Things I need to work on:
More intense skin treatments once or twice a week - I have loads of stuff from my M&S advent calendar I just need to use it!
Wearing make up - I've got very lazy. Bought some new make up from Boots the other day and got a voucher for a free blusher so I'm going to go back to get that.
Nails - mine are awful. Need to strengthen and tidy them up.
Moisturising body - I've been hiding my horrible dry skin all winter but need to sort it out now.

Have been sorting out my work wardrobe for spring/summer whilst on annual leave this week. I have lots of nice wrap dresses, just need shoes to go with them.

I could also do with losing half a stone.

Ok here's my list-
Stick to the Blood Sugar Diet for 5 weeks (maybe more) until whitsun holiday. Stick to basic principles of no grains, no rice. No pasta. No potato and no sugar (lost 12lb in 12 days doing this before Easter! It works)

Sort out my whiskers facial hair issue- gradually has got worse and worse and I now need to pluck/wax daily. I do have a lumea so need to use that again on a proper schedule

Do more- either walking with the pushchair or going for a jog in the evening once dh gets home

Clothes are ok, kondo'd recently and have bought a few new bits. I think really the reason why I 'quit' princessing before is that I don't really do that groomed look very well. So I'm going to focus more on cleansing my skin every day, getting more water, getting better sleep and losing some weight.

I really need this thread in my life!
Feel like I have no time for myself at the moment - all work, kids, doing up the house etc etc. Feeling bloated and tired and run down, so this can get the motivation I need! My list (for starters):

  1. Get enough sleep (aim 7 hours each night)
  2. Find time to fit in a 3rd weekly gym visit. Go twice at the mo, yoga and body pump, but need to do some cardio.
  3. Weekly manicure/pedicure (at home)
  4. Get eyebrows threaded.
  5. Maintain 8 weekly cut/colour for hair.
  6. Use my face masks!
  7. Start doing facial exercises - have an Eva Fraser book, been sitting on the shelf for months and I haven't got round to trying it.
  8. Keep hydrated.
  9. Find out what is causing my painful stomach cramps and bloating. It flares up now and again, so must be linked to what I am eating.

That's all for now!

I'm up for this! I feel totally fed up with everything at the minute, like I'm failing at personal grooming, housework, being a good wife and mother...so maybe if I start taking care of myself I will feel better and be able to take on the rest !

My list:
Shower every day!
Stick to SW
Drink 2 litres of water a day
Cleanse, tone and moisturise morning and evening (I always manage one but need to do both!)
Make sure nails are kept nice using my home gel nail kit
Keep on top of hair removal
Yoga weekly
Wash, blow dry and straighten hair twice a week.
Footbed
Start using hand cream as I have never used it and just realised my hands look awful.

There's always one Grin

This evening I plucked my eyebrows, painted toenails and booked my hair in for much needed high lights tomorrow.

I'm going to try my hardest at keeping up with the eyebrows. I'm terrible for letting them go!

Have just ordered a Birchbox subscription to see what it's like. Trying new products might encourage me to stick at it. Plus I found a £5 off code on here for my first box so very little lost if it doesn't work.
