I am fed up with skin and am looking for advice from those with experience of treatments such microdermabrasion, fraxel laser etc.

For info, I'm in my early 40s with acne scarring (not too severe but enough to make me very self conscious), sun damage such as freckles and a brown patch on one cheek and skin generally looking lacklustre and a bit crepey. I've probably made it sound worse than it is but would love to hear about any treatments that might help. Thanks!

A peel and then microdermabrasion-- this worked for me with regards to acne scars discoloration.

The peel was severe and had down time, the microdermabrasion is not 1 off.. You sort of have to maintain it.. And the products prescribed afterwards was £££.

Another option is laser.. Better results for aging skin.
I always say go to a dermatologist. It's worth every penny.

Thanks - the scars are more indentations than discolouration.

I would love laser but am concerned about cost and downtime.

I've also never spoken to DH or anyone really about how much it bothers me and no one has ever commented on it since I was a kid.

I'm starting Palomar laser treatment on Tuesday for freckles and age spots! The patch test left a red patch on my face which one person noticed as I was standing right next to her, bit it had gone by the evening. I have been told there may be a little swelling and redness but shouldn't last more than 24 hours! I can get back to you on Tuesday and let you know. It's meant to be very good for scarring too!

Could have written your post OP - acne and scarring at age 33 here too. Also too much facial fuzz. Would love to try something along those lines. Was looking at Dermalogica peel the other day - no downtime apparently. Anyone tried it?

Pickles - so I had my first if three laser sessions today! It was a bit painful but you get used to it actually! It gets warm so after the laser they put frozen rollers over your face which is incredible. It wasn't half as red as I had imagined! This is me with a tinted spf on and s purple wig hahaha . Will get another pic this evening for you to see without cream on! Now my skin feels just normal like I've had nothing done so, so far so good. Next on in four weeks time!

Hey OP my face looks totally fine today. No redness at all which is amazing, I was so worried I would be red for a few days. The pigmentation spots are darker but not that anyone would notice! They do this before the pigmentation breaks down and is absorbed by the body! Sorry never took a pic last night,was bit tipsy and forgot! Today skin feels totally normal like nothing has been done - I'm so impressed with the after effects so far! In terms if long term reduction in pigmentation, ill have to keep updating you but so far, so really good!
