Really sad too to hear this, one of the few remaining places that you could get decent quality workwear from. Going to miss their online outlet.,,,

Shame, but not surprising, given the amount of stuff they couldn't sell, going by said outlet.

What a shame. I did think they were quite overpriced though, and only ever bought in the sale / outlet.

I had a gift card knocking around and have just rushed to spend it. Superwide trousers - bit edgy for me but everything else was either extremely work centred or wacky. Nothing in between.

Ooh maybe I should buy that coat I've had my eye on! What is the sizing like? If the measurements looks like a perfect fit will that be adequate?

Report
Mumsnut · 11/04/2017 15:58

Sizing is huge ime. I am a 16/18 and my last Jaeger coat was a 10!!

mamado · 11/04/2017 16:06

Wow! Thank you, I certainly won't order up!!

I wondered, because the tiny local Jaeger shop suddenly became an "outlet for Jaeger".

DailyMailFuckRightOff · 11/04/2017 16:37

Gutted. I've had some lovely things from there.

I got all my mum's clothes there, major bummer.

I think their stuff is a bit middle of the road. Expensive but not well cut enough to make it really worth the cash.

I used to like Jaeger but they clothes have become a bit frumpy and expensive. Last time I was in there it was like 2015-2016 and their clothes looked for women over 50-60 only and quite formal.

"their" clothes

Real shame. Their recent 'laboratory' and Donna Ida collaboration pieces were lovely, harking back to the Jaeger Boutique days 🙁

Hopefully someone will buy them.

They have two issues. Primarily their sizing. I'm big and a size 10 or a M. In coast I am a 16 and in Hobbs I am an 18. Their sizing excludes anyone who is size 12 and below.

Also, I thought they never went after the woman's workwear market. Their suits are great and women need suits more and more as younger generations rise up into management positions.

I thought their sizing was generous. Outside of maybe financial and legal, (and even then not always) no-one wears suits in management or at any other level anymore. Tailored clothing maybe for business casual, but not suits and you can buy that at H&M nowadays.

Quite simply they never designed for new younger customers so as their core market got older and bought less, the bottom fell out. Jaeger Boutique was a good effort but they never continued it. A real shame as the quality for high street was great.

I've bought a few great things in their sales recently (new store opened near me last year) - but found much of it frumpy and middle-aged. The Donna Ida range was fab (leopard jumper, priscilla jeans with stars on) but even that was reduced frequently….not sure where they've gone wrong, such a shame.

I am sad to see this happen too. Really good quality clothing - but overpriced. And yes, getting frumpier and the sizing is peculiar. But got married in a Jaeger suit.
