How do I get my hair to grow?

Glossolalia · 09/04/2017 12:55

My hair grows really slowly and I'm getting really fed up if it!

I've tried getting it cut every 6-8 weeks and it's made it worse as my hair isn't any longer now than it was a year ago, in fact it's shorter! Angry

Any products, processes anyone could recommend?

I've stopped using hair straighteners and I use a shampoo and conditioner with no sulphates etc.

Stop cutting it is going to be most obvious suggestion Grin it's a myth that regular haircuts help hair to grow.

My hairdresser regularly recommends pregnancy vitamins as well as making sure you have a healthy diet.

I agree - just stop getting it cut.

Op I'm really sorry but I can't stop laughing at the thought of you racking your brains desperately trying to understand why your hair won't grow at the same time having it cut off every 6 weeks 😂 Every 6 weeks is great to keep your hair in top condition and to maintain a certain style of cut but if you want it to grow you really need to step away from the scissors!

And the obvious one, stop cutting your hair

Everyone's hair grows, I don't think it's actually possible to make it grow faster. The key is to maintain what you already have.

Firstly, stop cutting it :)

Secondly, protective hair styling

Thirdly, regular conditioning. I personally deep condition twice a month.

Cutting the ends off will do nothing to make it grow.

Mine grows quickly. I let it get greasy now and then and use a good bristle brush to brush the oils through my hair.

Is there breakage?

Coconut oil once a week can help with that plus a good conditioner & serum.

Coconut oil before shampoo and once out of shower on ends - helps stop them splitting meaning you need to go to the hairdresser left (if like me that is the main reason you go)

Grin how on earth do you think that cutting the ends of dead hair tissue will have any impact on the root growth? Logic people!

Hair growth is genetic, change up your parents?

I'm currently growing my pixie out and get the back trimmed every 4.months while the sides grow down to the same length. My hairdresser recommended this brand www.nioxin.com not sure it made that much difference but then I'm a sucker marketing ploys..

Grin Grin Grin Oh dear, I've done it again!

My hairdresser said that I needed to get my haircut regularly so she could fleece me on a regular basis because it was overly processed and damaged so it kept breaking at the ends, so I had regular hair cuts and stopped using hair straighteners to stop it from snapping so much.

Now it's in good condition, I just want it to grow quickly... it's a bit short.

Out2pasture I've looked into this, apparently that's not possible either...
I just can't catch a break, can I?

Cuppa thats quite extreme, but I think I need to consider all available options. I will keep it on the list.

PointlessUsername there was slot of breakage, I was having the regular cuts as I wasn't brave enough to cut the damage off in one go, it was about 4 inches. I used to use coconut oil regularly, thank you. Ok. Try it again.

I would carry on with the trimming if you have breakage. You want to get that gone.

Pointless My hair is in quite good condition now (I think, I hope!)

I'm just hoping that there is a way of getting my hair to grow quicker now it's in good condition.

It's a waste product so would eating lots of junk food help? Wink

Mane and tail shampoo and conditioner made mine grow very quickly. Cheap too look on Amazon or Ebay. You can see some results on Youtube

Nothing increases the lifecycle and growth rate from your follicles, except possibly regaine. All other claims on packs are lies. Hair is dead so what you put on it only preserves what you have.

Poor nutrition or illness will slow growth. Avoid sleb diets or anything you have to pay to follow .

Genetics also plays a part. If all it took was time and a great regimen, way more people would have waist length hair. Hair growth happens during the anagen phase of the hair cycle. Some people's anagen phase is 3 years while another person's anagen phase might be 6 years. Personally I like short hairstylezz ,sometimes it looks so cute
Other ways to promote hair growth include:
-you should increase protein intake (like eggs, fish and chicken)
-biotin- when it comes to make hair grow this is the proven hair vitamin

  • ashwagandha –it is an immune booster and will allow healthy hair growth
