Killed my hair - restorative shampoo suggestions please

I've been using steroid shampoo for my psoriasis. It's really dried my hair out which has now gone all fluffy :( Can anyone recommend something to fix it please, hairdresser suggested going really short.

Deep conditioning treatments. I rely on Aussie 3 Minute Miracle, but I've not had that level of damage to contend with.

Maybe a very mild baby shampoo to go with it?

John Frieda Frizz-Ease is expensive but really wonderful stuff imho. The shampoo, conditioner and the serum worked wonders for me.
Would recommend.

Sorry, don't know much about steroid shampoo or how it affects your hair. I ruined my hair by repeated box dying. Thought I was going to have to chop it all off, but have managed to greatly improve the condition by doing the following:

• Using SLS and silicone free shampoos and conditioners (I use House of Mistry)
  
• Using the condition-wash-condition method
  
• Taking a biotin supplement
  
• Alternating monthly protein (Aphogee) and bonding (Colorphlex) treatments
  
• Regular trims
  

I have found that analysing my hair's porosity has helped me to work out how better to care for it. Sounds like your hair is probably highly porous (most dry, damaged hair is), therefore taking on moisture but unable to retain it. If this is the case, protein and bonding treatments will help enormously.

You can Google how to test your hair's porosity, but the simplest way is probably just to put a clean, dry strand in a bowl of water. If it floats = low porosity, if it sinks = high porosity, stays suspended = balanced.

thanks :) this is so helpful. I'll try the porosity test. I have very fine hair that ironically recently was going really greasy until I started using steroids. I think sls free could be a good idea.

I quite like lush, but only tried one shampoo bar that dried my hair out.

If fine, it may be low porosity (so moisture cannot easily penetrate). Apparently most fine hair is low porosity. Maybe do the test and see?

I condition and then use alpine caffeine shampoo (found in the men's bit). Started this in January and everyone is noticing the difference. I have thick hair for the first time since I was a teen 😊
