Birkenstocks

They're so ugly but I love mine. Are they really awful or sort of fashionable now? Mine are the sandal type, at least 8 years old, and mainly used around the house but I see a few youngsters looking good in them. Opinions?

Mine are very ugly too, but so comfortable. I don't care what anyone thinks, I love them.

I love them. Wear my single strap matt brown pair the most often but also have navy stripe that look ace with jeans and also a bronze pair that shimmer. So comfy, last forever and go with everything. Literally nothing not to like IMO. I think white ones are quite in at the moment also ones with chunky double straps, Arizona I think they're called?

I love mine too - just the single strap sandal. They look fab with jeans, shorts, skirts or dresses. I've been umming and ahhing as to what other sandals to get for this summer and today came to the conclusion that I'm just going to get 2 more pairs of birkies identical to my existing ones. one will be in a darker colour - probably navy - and a silver pair.

Hello summer :)

How fashionable they are has no bearing on whether they're awful or not.

They're hideous.

You just haven't been converted yet Robyn.
I love mine. Double, thick, blue straps.
I wear mine with socks round the house like slippers.
My kids are like this🙄

I love them, I have lots of different colours.

Yup, I had a pair, they are comfy, but yes they are hideous, and no they don't look fab with things like skirts or dresses, they look terrible, like Jesus sandals and socks kind of terrible . Hmm

Try a pair of sea salt or something. Birkenstocks, like crocs, are for comfort only, no one should pretend they look good. 😂

Am I missing something with the much lorded Saltwater sandals? I think they don't look much better than Birkies

Mine are silver, I love them, and they love meGrin

I love my vegan 2 straps and am annoyed I can't get them with one at the moment.

Those Saltwater ones are the fugly sandals - like something my 90 year old man would've worn!

Every time I wear my brown leather double strap monstrosities out I buy a new pair

Love 'em

They come out from April to October and get worn with most things

Mind you.. .I live in jeans and harem trousers

I don't think they're ugly at all. I prefer some styles to others but I like chunky soles. I like the look of the Saltwaters as well but know they'll be so flat it'll feel as though I'm walking on my heels.

I love my fur-lined Birkenstocks, but I only wear them around the house.

Gizah thong style definitely aren't hideous and the two bar ones are fashionable ATM

I refer to my black two bar pair as my fuglys....I secretly covert a pair of bright green patent Birkies. Actually..I might just go and order fine now.

Adore my Birkenstocks and couldn't face a summer without them. I've had Birkies in my life for over 15 years and I'm not about to stop. Love them.

My Madrids most of all because I'm crap at hanging onto shoes and sandals with my toes.

As a true size 43 or 44 I LOVE Birkies. Most styles come in those sizes and they come up so big I've even got a pair of patent lime greens in a 41!!
I could not give a rats ass what anyone else thinks because I love having choice of footwear. Long live the Birkenstock!

I love Birkenstocks too.
I get sore feet if I am not careful plantar fasciitis. With Birkenstocks this doesn't happen I wear mine to death April to early October wear with everything. Oh holidays and at home.

I love them too. Have had several pairs in the summer every year for about ten years!

I actually don't think they're that ugly. If you have wide feet like me they make your feet look better than being squashed into narrow strappy sandals that make your toes bulge out.

Dh and dd (14) however think they are vile. Every time they see me eyeing up a new pair they groan and give me the evil eye. Grin

Life's too short to make your feet look revolting. There are plenty of comfortable yet non-hideous footwear options available. There's no excuse.

Yes! If I see someone in a pair I assume they have sweaty, cheesy feet with lashings of toe jam.

I've never owned Birkenstocks because I can't do backless, but I have been looking for properly comfy sandals for years. I an considering these www.birkenstock.com/gb/daloa-birko-flor--graceful-rosa/0026281-0026283-0000000.html#start=9 but concerned they might not be as comfortable as "real" ones

I always have the Mayaris in bronze. I think they're quite pretty actually.

Those Saltwater ones look sooo flat and the strap would look really chunky on my skinny ankles.

Report
missmartha · 08/04/2017 08:45

Emphasis, I can't do backless either but over the last 15 years have worn my Milanos constantly during the summer.
I did say Madrids in my post upthread, I lied, they are backless and my feet fall out. Huh.

Milanos on the other hand stay put and it's like walking on clouds.
