Jaeger gone bust

Just read in sunday times business that jaeger has gone belly up and likely to close all their stores. Will be online and concessions only. Can't say I'm surprised as they had permanent sales on but a bit or a shame as thought they were good quality if a bit overpriced (when at full price).

That's a shame, the quality of their clothes is fantastic. I have some things from jaeger that are simply beautiful. But too expensive for me to buy from regularly.

Sad Bloody hell where will I buy my coats and jumpers? Fuckety fuck!

Sorry to hear this. I have to say, I don't think I've ever bought from them but I have a soft spot for any brand with a bit of history and Jaeger go back a long time.

No doubt there will be lots of clearance sales so I will be stocking up even though it feels a bit wrong to do so. I wear jaeger for work pretty much every day!

Balls. About 75% of my workwear is Jaeger. I only buy online and never pay full price, though. I guess it may be partly my fault

Jaeger has collapsed at least once before!

Their discounting on the Jaeger outlet site has been ludicrous/ fantastic depending on how you look at it though. Earlier last week I bought a suit for dh the ticket price of which was 500, I paid 100. If they need to sell for close to 500 to be in profit it is hardly surprising

Fully expect the brand to be bought out and continue real question is what will happen to the quality. I have had such beautiful things from them over the years, my real investment pieces are all from there. Just had the joy of getting out my trench coat which is now in its 4th year and still perfect....

I love Jaeger - quality is great and like PP most of my workwear is from there. What a shame, hope a buyer is found and they continue in some form.

I am very sad about this. I have brought a beautiful cashmere jumper, a navy suit and a bracelet from them this year. All really wonderful items that I really enjoy wearing. The detail and design is so much better than many places. Most of my work wear is from there. Oh, I have a beautfiul purple coat from a few years ago too.

I still wear a jaeger jumper that my mum bought in 1969! It's immaculate. What a shame

I am so sad about this, Jaeger clothes have been part of my life. I still wear some stunning Jaeger Black pieces (anyone remember this line?) and their coats are a key part of my wardrobe. My fashionista dd is currently wearing a classic navy blazer I have from the 1980s. Maybe someone will ride to the rescue and keep the brand going !

I didn't know they still existed!

I bought several merino wool mix pocket jumpers from them last year in the sale and they pilled very badly. They were very poor quality.

I hope someone buys it. I was gradually building a good quality wardrobe of clothes by buying a couple of pieces each season from the outlet shop. Agree that some pieces are very expensive and seem to hang around for ever. Hate to see jobs being lost though.

Says here it's been sold to Edinburgh Woollen Mill but they are quoted as saying it's "unfixable" and will be online/concession only

My DH is very upset. He buys all his work suits and shirts from there. He also has a few smart coats. It wont be too bad if he can get them online as he knows exactly what size he needs and can just order them.

I don't suit shirts, never feel comfortable in them (think it's my shape or lack of) except for a lovely silk one from Jaeger many years ago.

Never good to hear of potential job losses and companies going under Sad

I hope they are rescued.

My Mum would be gutted, she lived in Jaeger and Viyella, both phenomenally classic and amazing quality. I have a Jaeger bag that she got me from an outlet years ago, and it has never scuffed, nothing.

I love their stuff (the outlet especially),....but I have noticed quite bit of Jaegar in TKmaxx recently.. I think they have a shop at Gunwharf Quays still

If it's going to be online/concession only then you'll still be able to buy from them Confused.

Laska I looked for the store at Gunwharf last week and couldn't find it - I thought it must have moved but now I'm wondering...

As long as their stuff's still available online and in dept stores it's hardly the end of the world really. How many standalone stores do they have anyway? Sad for those who'll lose their jobs though of course.

I'm not a huge fan to be honest, I find their clothes fairly unwearable, either they go too edgy or too dull and mumsy.

However I just bought this jacket from them, reduced from £250 to £140 and I absolutely love it. The quality is excellent, the fit is very flattering and I'll probably wear it to death.
