dress neckline alteration. is it possible?

It's a cheap dress but I like it, apart from the high ish v neckline. I'd prefer a scoop neck or possibly a deeper v. It's 95% viscose and 5% elastane. Think its possible to change the shape of the neckline ? If so, how? I've looked for local clothing alteration places but we only have a dry cleaners who will rehem trousers or a curtain maker.

It can be done, but how easy it will be depends a lot on the dress and how it's constructed! Your best bet is to try and find a tailor who can take a look for you and give you a price.

May not be able to do a scoop neck, it depends on how deep the V is now, there shouldn't be a problem extending and/or widening the existing V though. Not sure a tailor would be cost effective but a seamstress or dressmaker should be able to do it for you.

I have just been looking into the same thing. I have a £20 sweatshirt dress from ASOS with a crew neck and I want a shallow scoop. They quoted me £23 to do it and wanted me to find the facing. Since the dress is a casual dress I'm just going to cut it and leave a raw edge.

It's not a deep v at all, in fact it's too shallow so it looks odd. Shame really as the dress fits really well everywhere else and could be the perfect summer throw on holiday dress. It's a really simple dress, kind of a fit and flare style with a vest type top.

I'd definitely leave the edge raw on a sweatshirt or tshirt fabric fosco. I've got a lovely sweatshirt dress from asos that has a shallow scoop and im pretty sure thats raw edge.

I'm wondering if viscose frays.......

Hi. I've had a coast dress neckline professionally altered. It was too high, though it would be okay but wasn't really. Love the alteration but it was around £30 though
