Honestly - is this style of trainer terrible?

I love converse, but just need something a bit more supportive/solid. Wondering about something like this or this.
(Don't have to be vegetarian, but I think it might be the right sort of style and ideally looking for something EU made / non-sweatshop.)

They're not my cup of tea, but they remind me of Camper trainers if you were looking for leather (not sure about their ethical credentials though).

Yes, that's definitely the right sort of thing - leather and sort of trainer-ish but not quite. (Am going shopping at the weekend in the big city mostly on dd's behalf, but hoping to get a quick poke around for me too if I can figure out in advance what to look for!)

Have you tried this brand? They're vegan but IMO a bit more elegant that the ones your posted..

I like the trainers in your second link, the navy Cheetahs. Not so keen on the brown or the Campers. Could also try Veja trainers, v ethical French brand, don't know where they are stocked though

Cross posted there, yeah they are a lot more attractive than the others

Grey cross post. Only in Anthropologie or Canopy in the U.K. I think but you can get them online obviously.

Oh, I really like the Veja trainers, I'd never heard of them. I suspect they won't be an option in Cardiff (!) but I often buy shoes online anyway.

I really like that they are honest about the limitations to what they do as well.

I prefer adidas gazelle if you want a sporty low profile look .!

Might be unfair but I used to buy shoes from them when I lived in Brighton and they always fell apart.

Have you thought about New Balance? They do some vegi shoes and about 85% of their shoes are made in the UK.

Was it the Vega trainers that fell apart Ivy or the Vegetarian shoes ones?

I've not been keen on the New Balance styles I've seen around (more what my teen would wear), but will look at them again, didn't know they were made in the UK.

The ones from the Vegetarian Shoes shop. But that was a long time ago. They might well be better now.

DH has some shoes from here: wills-vegan-shoes.com
He wears them for work and they are lasting really well.
