Weird question coming into summer but I'm curious!

I have a regular wool type coat, a trench coat, a parka, a dog walking coat & a blazer.

They're all past their best so next year I'm looking to upgrade but I'm wondering how many I actually need.

Fintress Wed 22-Mar-17 15:54:50

I have a ridiculous amount, they take up a whole double wardrobe, much to my husband's dismay!

BeeMyBaby Wed 22-Mar-17 15:57:14

Probably about 10 but three that I wear regularly (cagoule for dog walking, smart waterproof jacket for work, long puffy coat when looking after DS as he makes all my clothes gross)

UntilTheCowsComeHome Wed 22-Mar-17 15:57:48

I have a faux leather biker style jacket, and a big, fluffy hooded parka that's seen better days but is warm for football watching.

That's it. blush

PollyPerky Wed 22-Mar-17 15:58:02

Three wool coats in various states of smartness, trench coat (short), down coat, a parka style coat, a smarter jacket, loads of fleeces and waterproofs. I love coats but have to draw the line at what I'll actually wear.

TizzyDongue Wed 22-Mar-17 15:59:20

Quite a lot!!

Black smart coat - can't recall the make but it's a 'name'
'Fashion' coat
Short jacket
2 denim jackets
Long waterproof coat
Bright yellow water/windproof walking jacket

Buy in my local charity shop - cost between €1-€6

TizzyDongue Wed 22-Mar-17 16:00:14

Oh yes and a parka!! But zip broke recently.

dontpokethebear Wed 22-Mar-17 16:02:48

I have a big fluffy fur coat.
A short haired leopard print long coat.
Leather biker jacket.
Several cagoules.
A mustard wool coat.
A marimekko Mac
A Tog 24 winter coat, it's like wearing a duvet!
Several coatigans in various colours (do they count?!)

I love coats!

toffeeboffin Wed 22-Mar-17 16:03:13

At least 15.

Loads of trench coats too which I barely now wear because I live abroad where its never 12 degrees and drizzly : it's either minus 30 or plus 30!

dudsville Wed 22-Mar-17 16:03:39

A hooded water proof down for cold weather.
A separate similar one for dog walking.
A wool knee length button up for spring autumn.
A rain coat for spring/autumn.
A wool button up jacket for spring autumn.
Jean jackets, etc., for "summer".

olderthanyouthink Wed 22-Mar-17 16:05:53

Grey wool coat (with me today)
Camel wool coat
Grey leather jacket
Trench coat
Plus a ultra light down jacket I will wear as a coat when it's warmer and dry.

Just bought a jacket from h&m but haven't tried it yet and I want a denim jacket.

The two wool coats will be put away soon (hopefully)

Pyjamaface Wed 22-Mar-17 16:06:13

I have 4

A 'Mum jacket' Regatta waterproof, windproof thing with loads of pockets and sensible hood

A smart wool jacket

A denim jacket

A thin military style jacket

MumBod Wed 22-Mar-17 16:08:10

Loads. It's a permanent quest for the perfect coat.

I feel I've cracked it for Spring with a long light grey Zara one, though <fist pump>

A Vivienne Westwood wool
A Vivienne Westwood asymmetric trench
A Whistles wool
A French Connection leopard print cocoon
A Gap Navy Trench
An olive green Ben Sherman parka
An Isla Jacobson black waterproof
A black Zara biker style boiled wool
A green and white Zara 3/4 length patterned thingy
A green padded Ness thing.
A black cagoule for dog walking

fruityb Wed 22-Mar-17 16:08:14

A duffle coat
A very thin anorak
A denim jacket
A body warmer with a furry hood
A ski coat for uber cold days

That's it! I used to have loads and I got rid on the warm rail we have in town.

MumBod Wed 22-Mar-17 16:10:18

Oh, and jackets...

Two denim
One black leather biker
One leather cropped thing

1 navy wool knee length
1 cream/winter white knee length
1 duvet style puffer coat navy long
2 puffer jackets wine and navy coloured
1 coral coloured good coat
1 leopard print
2 light weight mac's one red, one beige

Eatingcheeseontoast Wed 22-Mar-17 16:34:33

I used to just have one for work and going out and one for proper walking....simpler times. They got replaced when they were worn out!

North face proper walking to work in the rain warm coat.
Warm quilted parka - bit more lightweight and falling apart really.
Woolmix work coat (debenhams)
(v cheap) 50s looking coat for going to black tie dos.
Green woolmix work coat (M&S)
Black wool long funeral coat.
Purple weird long coat I must get rid of bought in sale and has never suited me.

2 waterproofs and a couple of waterproof fleeces for proper walking.

Peopleplease Wed 22-Mar-17 17:04:04

I underestimated the amount of coats people have! I'm confined by space. Only have a tiny wardrobe.

Jaimx86 Wed 22-Mar-17 17:17:01

I've bought 5 in the past month. Maybe 20-25 coats. Couldn't count the jackets blush

ImYourWomanJonSnow Wed 22-Mar-17 17:17:04

I have coats for all seasons:

Lightweight showerproof jacket
Rain coat
Denim jacket
Trench coat
Jersey spring coat
Cycling waterproof jacket
Wool bomber in zebra print
Navy pea jacket
Long wool coat
Long cashmere coat that has seen better days but can't bear to throw it away so now it gets worn just as a wraparound in the garden or nipping to the cornershop
And a huge puffa jacket job for really cold days.

To be honest I think I would need/like to have lots more but have restricted space in my house.

Greenvalleymama Wed 22-Mar-17 17:21:19

MumBod, you're my hero!

Loving this thread for jacket inspiration.

I have many, many coats and jackets too. My husband would argue that I have too many (ditto shoes boots and handbags) but the truth is I've only just started...

Apanicaday Wed 22-Mar-17 17:24:19

Three. One thats vaguely smart, one lightweight one, and a waterproof.

imjessie Wed 22-Mar-17 17:31:09

Loads ! Probably about 30/40 🙈

SesameSparkle Wed 22-Mar-17 18:20:45

Full length smart warm wool coat
2 shorter light weight wool coats (bit big)
Long waterproof coat (am about to send back under guarantee for not being waterproof anymore)
Shorter waterproof coat (new bargain, still got tags as I'm waiting for warmer wet weather....)
Zara fun fur I purchased on black Friday ( also still got its tags on ....)
Hip length autumn/spring waterproof, old and also too big but ok if I'm desperate
2 leather jackets (one is bargain still to be worn bit of a theme .....)
Denim jacket also new bargain, waiting for summer ....
Summer short 'outdoors' waterproof
I just ordered a new trench, same as last year's but a smaller size grin

Most are new purchases as I lost quite a bit of weight over the past year. I chucked all the other old ones out.

I don't think that's really a lot hmm and lots are practical sadly as it's very wet and windy here! grin

I want mumbod's wardrobe

Shamoffour Wed 22-Mar-17 18:26:02

Hmm I'm not sure but coats/jackets are my thing so I would say around 30.
I have a lot of Blazers. I have parkas/bikers/pea coats/trench coats/denim jackets/down coats/ wool/coats/dusters/.... You get the picturegrin
